Christmas 2009

Dec 25, 2009 19:19

Although I will admit to being jealous of those of my friends (which is to say MOST of you) who have a hubby/wife/significant other to spend Christmas with, I don't think I'll ever get tired of family Christmas (even though we were without Bro and Lucky Dog this year).

Family Christmas! )

Oh, Jeez, don't be jealous. Because once you have the husband, you have the inevitable war of "who to spend Christmas with", because after the first couple of years of spending it by yourselves, your respective sets of parents get jealous and get grabby. And it becomes a war ( ... )

LOL. Well, since you put it that way ...

"Since you guys want to spend the holiday by yourselves, I come and spend it with you ..."

Wow ... that is a real WTF moment!

Yeah, seriously on the jealousy part.... I have a husband. Last year he was in Iraq, so no Christmasing. This year we got to move across the country in a blizzard and THEN spend 4 days with his family (most of whom are okay, some of whom drive me absolutely insane... and you know that isn't easy!) The insanity-causing ones then showed up at our new house (that is a wreck, with boxes everywhere!) and proceeded to critique the finer points of the construction and floorplan. At least they didn't bring their tiny yappy dog, who has a habit of peeing on everything! (He peed on the living room floor of my house in Texas... if they had brought him here I would not have let them in!) By the time we showed up for "Boxing Day" dinner at the aunt's house in Springfield, the rest of the family was so tired of those two that it got eventful fast ( ... )

My parents have the second bank, but it's likely reproduction and I have no clue about worth, so... lot of good that does. We spent Christmas and T'day half wondering if my MIL was dead since she didn't return calls either time to invite her to join us... we drove out day after Christmas with Scott's bro and checked at her work (yes she'd worked recently but not that day, they took the guy's numbers just in case), she called (guess her work called her) and said what? I've been in a hotel. Geez, first time we hadn't heard from or been able to reach her... 2 holidays in a row! Anyway. I don't have the family drama some people do, but still meh. I'm glad she's okay, but frustrated too.
