So I decided that I really really needed to vent about the LACK of common courtesy in retail - from customers' end. This may become a long term trend, both as an outlet and to let people know that I'm still amongst the living.

Cut to not flood folks' friendlists. )

retail, humanity sucks, real life

I can't count the number of times I've fought the urge to just say "Fuck you, ma'am," turn around, and go help another customer. I feel your pain.

Good to see you're still in the world of the living.

The pain's much less when you can turn it around and make it one of those "It wasn't funny THEN but it is funny NOW" anedotes.

Good to see you too, but I have to admit to my shame that I don't remember who you are. Did you change your LJ nick? XD:;;;

About the best I've done myself was several years ago, working with a friend of mine, for Huffy Service First. We arrived at some woman's house within a couple of days of New Year's Eve to build a piece of furniture she ordered. It didn't start well when she got snippy with us for arriving 15 minutes early, and went completely to hell when she finally saw the finished product - which was a mirror image of the photograph she used when she bought it. NOT being pleased, she ripped into us, demanding it be built the way it was in the photo, not caring that it couldn't be built that way, we built it the way it was designed. My friend did all the talking, but as time went on I noticed his hands were literally shaking in an effort to keep his temper. Finally we simply walked out, instructing her to take it up with our supervisors... leaving me to say "Happy New Year! =D" cheerfully as we left. Never heard about it again. XD;

And good to see you posting again! Even if it's a rant. XD

Hi there old man! ;D

Moved out with parents yet?

Sorry I've lost touch with you all - I've only just got off antidepressants (with a backup prescription in case I need it), and I really really just lost interest in socialization.

I'm still living with parents myself, but yeah, face to face service with customers seems to bring out the worst sort of entitlement in SOME people. Typically, the big tippers are easygoing and it's the tightwads who're the PICKIEST. XP

And happy holidays! I owe you art, too. I think. XD;;;;

Hello ♥

Yeah, I've been out of the parents' way since 2000-2001... somewhat financially dependent on them still, however, so maybe I'm no better off. XD; And I know how it goes with losing touch with people, no need to apologize there - it's just good to hear from you.

Happy Holidays to you! But, uh... IF you owe me art, I really can't recall it. XD;;; Last thing I remember asking from you is if you had the log of that silly Sizer/Flute RP we did, and it's no big deal if you do. XD; I'd hardly refuse art if you wanted to draw, though. =3

Seconding Phil to say I'm also glad to see you updating this again.

Next time I'm in Toronto (February) I will have to drop by your shop!

x_x

we could easily base one of our outings ranting about this.

It sounds better when I have everything in order when I type, I keep interrupting myself and remembering points when I tell it. XD;;;

But yeah, if you still want to, I'd totally be willing to lend an ear.

Got another one today, only I'm the customer this time - being abused by another customer! WTF.
