Let's Play: Willow the Arcade! part three
No intro this time, let's jump right in! --crap.
Stage 4: Sorsha's Camp
Oh no! Willow's been captured! Let's save him, Madmartigan!
Most of the stage is a slog up snowy hills. And of course, you can't have a snow-covered hill
without giant snowballs rolling down it.
(It was at this point that I got smart and mapped the screenshot key to a button on my controller so I wouldn't have to reach for the keyboard every five seconds.)
After climbing up the hill, we find a cave.
And what cave is complete without bats, right? I wonder if these bats coat themselves in ice
when they hibernate.
Did I just see a movement up there in the shadows? Eh, it's probably just nothi
Oh crap, it's a dragon! D:
It mostly hovers in the air above and shoots jets of flames down at you. Just charge your sword
while avoiding flames, then high jump, slash it, and repeat.
We climb up the tunnel after beating it, and come across probably the most frustrating bonus chests in the game:
It's JUST far enough that you have to time your jump perfectly to reach the other side. The
first time I tried, I ran out of time trying to get it.
And for our trouble, we get cash, holy water, and (sometimes) a Brownie.
Having gotten that, we continue onward, and encounter another new enemy:
Spear throwers! And I think they're women, too. Anyway, to the end of the stage, and the boss!
Sorsha! She jumps, walks, slashes at you, and, most annoyingly of all, will parry your blows
most of the time. I just beat her by standing next to her and pounding away with my sword.
(make your jokes here) I wound up losing most of my life, but oh well.
Oops.
Well, we all know what's coming next, don't we?
That's right! Toboggan ride!
Unlike the movie, this time you get to collect bonus cash if you time your jumps right.
Like the movie...
(Supposedly, you can jump and avoid the boulder, but I've never done it.)
Crap, not another fight!
Oh, it's just Airk.
And he lost his eye somehow.
Let's go on to the next stage, shall we? See you there!
