The Zerg
The Zerg are a group of organisms not native to this Netherworld. They are characterized by a high degree of mutation, incredibly aggressive behavior, and some kind of collective consciousness. They originate from a cluster of what seem to be huge organic structures, collectively known as the Hive Cluster.
While not individually sapient, the Zerg as a whole are most likely under the control of their leader, Sarah Kerrigan. As such, their current objectives are unknown, but they are increasingly becoming a threat to all residents of the Netherworld. Individually, most of them are rather weak compared to the more powerful individuals here, but their numbers seem to be nearly limitless, and attacking one often provokes retaliations from many others. As such, it is advised to avoid all contact with the Zerg swarm unless you know exactly what you are getting in to.

Further development suggests that the Zerg have the ability to "infest" other lifeforms, transforming them into Zerg/Non-Zerg hybrids. This is likely related to their ability to be as prolific as they are.
