Well I arrived yesterday at about 3 PM local time. As I was walking out with my big ol' 50 lbs. Army bags I heard more than a few things that I am almost 90% sure we derogatory mutterings directed at me and the fact that I'm US military. Whatever, they can shove it. I wish people would learn to differentiate between soldiers who get sent places and the people cloistered in their safe high-security offices who are the ones sending these soldiers to do their bidding. I'm anti-war; it doesn't mean I'm anti-soldier (if anything it means the opposite).

Good luck on your Korean studies; I need to get cracking on that myself. Some of my relatives are still horrified that in some ways I'm more competent in Japanese than I am in Korean. *rofl*

I wish it were so too. But really, this place is no different than any other... especially in the states. Some people like us, some people don't, and others are indifferent. I appreciate everyone that at least understands that really and truly, at least as far as where I go and (most of) what I do, that I have very little control over it.

And... lmao I haven't told any of mine that I know more Japanese than Korean yet... it's my deep dark secret. :
