Wow. This is not awful and not just palatable--this is really, really good. This is such an insightful exploration of their personalities and the complicated mechanics of their relationship. There's a lot of things here that no one's really touched on before in Dan/Rorschach fic. I'm glad to know there'll be more; I'm looking forward to it.

Heh, wow, I'm... amazingly flattered to have you of all people leave such a glowing review.

I've read a lot of fanfiction for this couple- which is, without a doubt, my favorite fanpairing of all time- and noticed a certain lack of addressing on certain issues. I was a little nervous to post something that seemed so different from the normal concerns of the pairing, but at the same time, I figured fresh blood might be good.

I'm glad my writing didn't make you suffer.

This entire thing is amazing - such a really nuanced, painful look at the relationship and its decay over the years and Dan's mental state in how he chose to deal with it - but this:

Because if it's ripped out, it rips out what was originally there to begin with.

Really sums it up perfectly. This is the danger of growing too far into someone else; these things become inextricable, eventually, especially when you've given so much of yourself over to an ideal or to an identity-construction that requires a specific support structure to not cave in under its own weight.

Can't wait to see more!
