I have to admit I've been wanting to see a fic where Dan and Laurie's relationship starts to unravel post-Karnak, because I've always thought the chances of that are not insignificant. So actually I'm glad to see this!

I like that Jon is still such a presence in Laurie's feelings and day-to-day thoughts, and how much she honestly enjoys the crimefighting gig--both of those things feel true to character. This is a really good handle on Laurie here! Dan withdrawing inward and keeping his grief to himself feels true to his character too, poor man. I like this line: His quiet 'doing-things-my-way-at-my-own-pace-in-my-own-broken-down-vehicle' behavior

Sad of course, but it is still about love in a roundabout way.

Mmn, I'm surprised to hear that anyone but me was interested in that sort of plot. It seemed to me more people were... excessively satisfied with Daniel and Laurie traipsing off to become a happily-ever-after couple.

I’m glad you liked my take on Laurie. I’m always afraid I’m too harsh when I write for female characters… especially females I’m not entirely fond of. So I’m happy to hear it doesn’t come off as me ripping on her or what have you.

Yeah, it seems like this fandom, or really any fandoms, doesn't like writing about breakups or relationships souring. Not that they shouldn't be written about, of course! Just seems to be the trend.

I didn't see anything wrong with your version of Laurie and I've gotten quite fond of Laurie lately, so I don't think you've got anything to worry about here.
