New toys

Aug 06, 2009 10:34

Got me some new toys last weekend.

New receiver: Denon AVR-3310CI

New fronts: Martin Logan Preface

New center: Martin Logan Encore

New sub: Martin Logan Dynamo

I didn't replace the surrounds yet. I was already somewhat above my original planning for the day. Haven't even thought of "surround rears" yet in my current house.

But.. Dayum!

Nice choices! Denon and ML are awesome :) pretty soon you'll need to step up to some electrostats! :D

We did look at electrostats too.

Although we did like them, they were unsuitable due to their narrow 'sweet spot' range. Great for sitting watching movies, not so much for listening to music and moving around the room.

Yeah, if your looking for wide range of great listening spots, electrostats aren't the best. You picked up great hardware, I hope it sounds as great as it should! :D

Didn't read up on the network part, but that is a nice touch.

I do, however, find it humorous that, in 2009, any media device (especially one like that that at most streams music and looks at pictures) doesn't include wireless built in.

Luckily (?) I have an old Linksys wireless bridge I used to use. I plan to set it up next week when my short HDMI cables come in. Then that huge mess of cables you saw when you were here will be reduced to 2. One for power, and one for all the video.

Then we'll see how well this thing converts between input medium. It had better do a decent job of converting the component and composites to HDMI!

You got taste in gear there, kitty! :)

I get the place I want to move to, I'm planning on a Dynaudio/Primare rig if I can pull it off.
