There was a strange, popping (or was it snapping?) sound that attracted his attention. He imagined he'd find a mouse setting off the tiniest firecrackers if he followed the sound but then the mouse cursed (did it burn itself?), and he found of the three girls he'd met in the auditorium instead. The mouse must have scampered away.

...though Vii was good at crafts, he wasn't entirely sure what she was trying to make. But whatever it was that she was trying to make, she seemed really involved. Really into it ( ... )

Amy jumped violently when she heard someone speak--didn't it kinda defeat the purpose of sitting out here if she failed to notice people coming up, nice one there--and instinctively moved to hide the pens; so it took her a moment to realize what he was saying. It was probably fair to guess that he was talking to her, seeing as he'd set his bag down while she was staring.

"Oh," Amy said after a moment, since it was only polite to actually respond. "Um. Wow. Thank you."

She belatedly pulled the pens back into her lap, and started undoing the twine around one of them as he rummaged through the bag.

Her list of people and weapons was in her jacket pocket on the side closest to him, so she couldn't check it, but she did recognize who he was: the guy who'd seemed okay. Odd, but okay.

Besides, he'd cleaned off the ground before setting his bag down. Amy could respect that.

"Green should be okay," she added after a moment. "I mean, it'll be fine, thank you. The . . . with the yellow and the brown, it'll kind of be the same colors as a

Vii paused his search and glanced down at the accumulation of dust on the floor. He was pretty convinced that the dust-bunnies were alive. Maybe they liked carrots.

"Ah. That's true," he commented, then pulled a bundle of green pipe cleaners wrapped loosely in plastic out of his carpetbag. "Here they are. They'll be--" and here he glanced at the smiley faced pens "--very happy flowers."

He carefully picked the wound-up twine from his pocket and started plucking bits of lint from the coils.

"So, what are you making?" He asked, tossing the lint to the floor (where it joined the dust-bunnies, and he figured they'd realize they were distant relatives and have a reunion). After hooking the wound-up twine on one of the shorter, previously used and cut pipe cleaners, he tossed the bundle to the girl.

Amy's first instinct was to lie. It was also her second, third, and fourth instinct, and probably a couple natures, too. Even if he did seem like an okay guy.

As she caught the bundle, she really wished she could remember what kind of weapon he had.

"I was worried about losing these," she replied, gesturing to the pens. She hooked a finger through one of the laynards. "The cap came off once when I tied it to the wire, and it fell. . . . I wanted to find a way to be sure to keep the pens, at least."

Amy started to loop the pipe cleaner around one of them. Then she bit her lip, started to explain about the monsters and just wanting a way to keep them away, and then cut herself off before she actually said anything.
