Arrived in Tokyo

Aug 03, 2009 01:04

I've decided to once again write down my adventures in Japan in this journal. Thought about opening a new account, but I paid for this one so it's kind of silly not to use it.

Everyone I mentioned will have a changed name, so hopefully no privacy infringed.

Allow me to backtrack a little:

1st August
There was the plane flight to Brisbane to Sydney (to meet up with the Perth JETs), then from Sydney to Narita. The flight was mostly uneventful, other than that everyone got every piece of liquid more than 100ml checked. This security measure had been in place more than 2 years ago, but no place checked as thorougly as Sydney. As a result, my toothpaste got taken. It was nearly used up but the person who checked my stuff said they only look at the total capacity of the item and not how much it actually contains. How stupid is that? I guess they wouldn't want to measure everyone's liquid, but still...

In Sydney, I also got randomly checked for carrying drugs or explosives :D I think my witty comments amused the two officers.

The sky above Papua New Ginea and Indonesia was as rocky as usual.

2nd August
Total sleep on the flight: On and off, about 2 hours

There were 21 of us from Brisbane, 12 from Perth. We arrived at around 7 in the morning. Got our lugguage, met with the JETs who were there to welcome us, and hopped on a bus especially for us to Keio Plaza Hotel.

We were told that we couldn't check in our luggage until 15:00. So we left our stuffs in where they said to be the HANA room.

At noon, I met up with a friend of mine who lives in Tokyo. The weather was bad, cloudy and rainy. We had lunch and walked around Kabuki-cho a bit. I was told by the TOAs not to go there at night, because there will be people trying to con you into things. In day time, I saw a couple of stripping club signs out on the street. I think I have an idea what kind of things they may be.

Got really tired so I headed back to the hotel at the approx check in time. Met my room mate (who's also an Aussie from Brissie), took a shower and slept until almost midnight ^_^; Looks like I have to leave calling parents to tomorrow.
