Kowbaby took her first steps Monday night. These were really honest to goodness, unassisted steps. She took a couple away from Mommy, stopped, wobbled a tad, and then finished up the performance with four more steps into Daddy's arms. Since she actually stopped and restarted herself without help, we're counting it ( Read more... )

I was hoping she would be more true to her heritage and take her wobbly steps on Mardi Gras (her mom's Creole side) or Hogmanay (her father's Scottish side). Neither of us has any Irish as far as we know going back about 200 years, so getting all "erin go braugh" on March 17th would be somewhat silly.

I didn't think it would be that suspenseful, either. It was all I could do not to run over and balance her for fear of her falling down.
