Title: My Last Train

Fandom: Kanjani8, NewS
Pairing: Nishikido Ryo x Uchi Hiroki, Nishikido Ryo x Ohkura Tadayoshi
Rating: Maybe NC-17 (Not in this chapter though)

And NO I don't own anything except from the plot, not even the title is mine!

Summary: Ryo struggles with what his and Uchi's relationship has turned into. He needs a brake to think. He still loves Uchi but he ends up unable to go back and tell him.

I changed the summary because the previous one didn't feel very good. Also it didn't really explain anything. So I changed it and I think it's a little better now. Also I made a storypic. I like it! What do you think? :D

Chapter 3 - In search

He was on his way to Tokyo, feeling more and more nervous every second the shinkansen came closer to where he hoped to find some kind of answer. He was fidgeting with his bag, with his clothes, his hair, with everything and couldn't seem to relax at all.

' Another emergency call in the middle of the night. He'd been trying to get some sleep in the resting room as his beeper went of indicating that he was needed in the ambulance port. He jumped out of bed and started running down the stairs to meet with the ambulance. With perfect timing he was there just as the ambulance paramedic Murakami and his co-worker Yasuda Shota was lifting a man out of the vehicle.

“Man in his twenties, severe head damage, a broken leg, two broken ribs and a serious loss of blood caused by a car accident”. Yasuda states to briefly inform him of the patients condition “Roger”. He takes the patients hand to assure that his pulse is still there. They take the unconscious man into the hospital heading for surgery and as they run he can feel a slight squeeze in his hand. He looks down and discovers that the man's eyes were slightly open. “Sir, you've been in a car accident and are now in Osaka Chuo Byoin ” The man stirs slightly in response and a name escapes his bruised lips “Uchi... Uchi Hiroki” He catches a hint of sadness in the man's eyes, almost pleading, and he can feel how it affects him. He wants this person to live. “You shouldn't talk right now. Stay calm, I assure you, you'll be fine. Yokoyama-sensei will do your surgery and he's the best in Japan...” He keeps talking to him and holds his hand to keep the patient conscious all the way to the surgery room where they part. '

Uchi Hiroki. A name that popped into his head frequently recently. It was the name of the man he was looking for. Hoping to find him for the sake of a person he'd come to care for a lot. It was the first time he'd cared this much for a patient. Why it had turned out that way he still wasn't sure about but the two weeks they'd spent together had left an deep impact on him.

' “I'm sure he'll be fine” He looks up to meet Shota's gaze. “Eh?” Shota gives him an assuring smile. “That man from the car accident, you're thinking about him aren't you. I'm sure he's going to be just fine. His surgery went well didn't it. You don't have to worry so much”. He sighs and leans back on the chair “I guess... It's just something about him that really bothers me. He seemed so... Sad” He laughs a little embarrassed “I don't know, maybe I just need to get me some sleep” '

How was it that this person named Uchi didn't return any of his calls? How could he just ignore it, if someone he knew was missing. Shouldn't he at least answer the call to find out who any why someone had tried to get in touch with him? Whenever he thought about it he could feel anger welling up inside of him. The fact that the cuts on his patients legs and hands together with some bruises was caused before the car accident made him even more curious as to what had happened to him. Amnesia is usually precipitated by a stressful episode like rape or abuse. Just the thought of it made him shiver in displeasure.

' Two days had passed since the surgery and by now he'd made it a habit to stick his head in and watch the other man as soon as he had a chance. He was sitting by the bed leaning his hands on the cover looking at the sleeping creature. No one had reported anyone missing and he hadn't had any visitors yet. The riddle of who this man was had yet to be solved. The only clue was the name that had been passed on to him the day the man had arrived. “Uchi Hiroki, who are you?” He sighed deeply and buried his face in his hands. He'd managed to find a number to a person with that name. Luckily there had been only one with the name and he had been sure that he'd found the right man. But after persistently trying to get a hold of this Uchi-person he'd given up after calling several times and still getting no response.

Suddenly an unfamiliar voice broke through his chain of thoughts. “Excuse me. But, do I know you?” He looked up and locked eyes with the patient. “You're awake” He smiled widely. The man nodded a little uncertain in response which made him feel stupid. “Oh, I'm sorry. My name is Ohkura Tadayoshi and I work at this hospital, you've been in an accident” He didn't know why but he could feel a small blush coming as he waited for the other man in the room to answer. The man in the bed just looked around as to confirm that he actually was in a hospital before he returned to look at Ohkura. “What happened?”

So he explained all about the accident and the surgery and that he'd been asleep for almost two days. The smaller of the two kept looking at the other as he explained his condition, when the doctor was done he asked: “That's right I haven't got your name yet, mister..?” Ohkura saw how the other opened his mouth as to answer when a confused expression suddenly decorated his bruised yet beautiful face. “I... I'm... I'm not sure” '

Ohkura looked at the other passengers, families with mothers, fathers and their happy children, maybe going on a trip to disneyland. Quite a few men in suits, important men with bags filled with important documents. High school girls sharing the latest gossip with their friends. He wondered how his new friends trip to Osaka had been. But he knew that even if he asked he wouldn't get an answer.

“It seems as if something has caused you to experience a fugue state, meaning temporary memory loss.” Ohkura looked at his patient, whom didn't move a muscle. He continued. “It's usually short-lived, mostly speaking about hours to days, but it can last months or longer. You shouldn't worry. It's really rare though, in opposite as to what we see in films and on TV.” At this the man without a past or identity sent a weak smile Ohkuras way. “I guess I'm just that special”

And to him he really was special. Though they'd only known each other for a short period of time Ohkura now had it hard to imagine life without Hiro. That was a name they'd thought up for him. Ohkura had taken the name from Uchi Hiroki which was the only thing Hiro had said when he still seemed to have some memories. His patient had somewhat liked the name and agreed to be called that for now. Ohkura hadn't told him about where he got the idea from. Neither had he told him about the mission he was currently on. He didn't want to give him any false hope if it turned out he was wrong.

' “Dissociative fugue usually involves unplanned travel or wandering, so it's possible that you had it before the accident. Another possibility is that the accident was the trigger but the underlying cause is something different.” Ohkura tried his best to sound formal and professional as he told the man that they now called Hiro of his condition. He kept going. “And sometimes it's accompanied by the establishment of a new identity. Though that doesn't seem to be true in your case. Fugues are usually precipitated by a stressful episode, and even when you recover there may still be amnesia for the original stressor”. Hiro looked at him “Please don't sound so formal with me... You're really the only one I know right now Ohkura-sensei” That thought was sad, but even so it made him feel closer to Hiro. “Fine, then how about dropping the sensei-part and just call me Ohkura?” They shared a smile. '

Tokyo station, he was finally here. He walked straight of the shinkansen heading for nearest subway station to get onto the last part of this trip before he hopefully would stand face to face to the person holding the key. Hiro had periods of depression when he felt like he would never remember himself. Ohkura hated that and he wanted Hiro to find himself as soon as possible, and since he couldn't leave the hospital Ohkura would do it for him.

' “Nurse Yasuda told me you've been refusing to eat...” Ohkura sat down on the occupied bed and laid his hand over the smaller man's knee. “Is that true?” Hiro turned away staring out the window. “It tastes like crap” Ohkura sighed. “You have to eat. Don't you want to get better?” Still he wouldn't look at him. “I don't see the point, I'm not getting better anyway” The doctor decided it was best to leave him alone for now, so he stood up and walked out of the room.

A couple of hours later he returned and knocked on the door. There was no answer, which wasn't surprising even though Hiro was still awake in the hospital bed. “I brought you some food” It seemed as he hadn't moved a muscle since Ohkura left him there hours ago. “I don't want any. It's disgusting” Ohkura smiled at this answer. “Not this time it isn't!” At this he got a response as Hiro looked at him with a puzzled face. “Because... This time I made it for you.” He put down the food on the table in front of a now bewildered man. “You...” Hiro pointed at the food, which he must admit looked incredibly delicious. “You made this for me?” The taller man sat down on his usual chair beside the bed “I sure did. Now feel free to eat.” As his patient returned his gaze to the food and then started to eat Ohkura felt indescribably good and warm iside. '

He was finally there, at the door of the address scribbled down on a small piece of paper. Now that he was here he started to feel incredibly unsure. 'What if he didn't know anything? Or if it was the wrong person. Or if he really didn't care at all?' But he had to at least try, for Hiro's sake. His palms was sweating as he knocked on the apartments door three times, before lowering his hand and anxiously waiting for the door to open.

I wrote this chapter really fast. It's good when you update fast isn't it?

This chapter had a slightly different feel to it. I hope you're not disappointed in the story development. This time a whole bunch of other characters where introduced. Even though out of the new characters only Ohkura and Yassu actually talks in this chapter. ^w^

Well, I hope you enjoyed your reading. Can't wait for next update! Also be aware that English isn't my first language, so I apologize if there are any annoying errors. ^^'''

Please comment, it's what keeps me motivated! :D
