I'm confused as to what your stand is on this. But my two cents is that they let it happen so that the park is a safe zone so those kids growing up with gblt parents can spend the day with them in the park?
So they don't have to worry about the comments they'll get from other jerky D-landers who would say something otherwise? I dunno.
Gay does still mean happy after all. Webster's says so.
I personally can't tell beyond a shadow of a doubt if someone is gay or not just by looking at them and I'm pretty sure that most Disneyland goers aren't sniffing around for 'gay' to enjoy their vacation. If anything, I'd say putting on a red t-shirt and advertising that you are gay would be an invitation for the very things these people try to avoid.
And maybe they are just being supportive because "supposedly" (and this is from hearing this for years and from castmembers down in florida's D-World) a large chunk of the employees are gay?
It only takes one to what? Start a straight lynch mob? 0_o Would our law enforcement or say even the park employees allow for something negative of that nature go on, much less begin? I keep getting the impression that you think once a straight person gets snarky at a homosexual all hell breaks loose. More often than not (and is usually the case in a public area), they just get stared at. Much like a goth person in full black regalia and make-up or a furry in a fur suit. And on the subject of Disneyland itself- they aren't being supportive- any support they DO show towards this organized event is under the table. The organizers advertise gay days at Disneyland as unofficial- which means its not supported by the park. Its a park goer organized event.
I...doubt that it's a Gay Pride Parade full of naked people throwing condoms and the like. Just people having a safe, fun time and Disneyland with their families.
I doubt it as well. I don't have wacky illusions that "dirty gays" are coming into Disneyland and I hope no one else thinks that either. I just don't see the point. Are heterosexual people lynch mobs crouched in wait for the unsuspecting homosexual if they don't incorporate a day for themselves to stand out?
believe it or not, kids these days are a lot different than when we were children. last halloween i went trick or treating with my cousin and her two kids. we stopped off at one of my neighbours and i mentioned about them both ebing guys. my cousin's daughter, who was 5 last year i think, asked if they were gay, and to be honest, i was totally speechless. how could someone so young know about that?
anyway, gay families are pretty much the same as normal families, so i don't see the point of a 'gay day'. all it does is single out the gay people from the straight. if that makes any sense.
thank you for using my comment ^ ^ what i had actually started typing was much more confusing lol. i like your icon btw XD i like orochi and itachi. i need to find pretty naruto icons :3. oh yeah, has that parcel arrived yet? i think the post was extra slow because of all the strikes they had over here ^ ^;;;;;

I just love the fact that certain areas tote the concept that they are open to any type of ideal and style, even those that might scare or sicken people. And yet when common sense takes a back seat every and all cry fowl.
In the end it just ruins things for everyone. Thank you for reminding me why I don't go to Disneyland.

I think the point of Gay Day at Disneyland is the same as a Goth Day at Disneyland, or Cosplay day at Disneyland or a Japanese Spring parade, or a North Beach Italian festival; basically it is a celebration of a subculture; a sort of "Yay this is me! This is us!" declaration and not a "You MUST accept me!" threat

The point? ...well, "Why not?"
There really a point other than that, that I can see.
