Barbie Boy
Big Bang, TOP/Daesung
Seunghyun always feels awkward when he walks into a toy store. Toy stores are for sweet and innocent little kids, not grown men who look like they belong in a club for “badass motherfuckers,” and Seunghyun keeps his eyes on the ground as he opens the door of a particularly bright and cheery toy shop. The fact that he’s wearing a black hoodie with Fifty Cent on it and rings studded with giant gems on his fingers doesn’t help his image and he shuffles inside the store shyly, hoping he can avoid any other shoppers.
“Hi there!” a voice booms out, making Seunghyun jump. “How can I help you on this fine, lovely day?”
To his horror, Seunghyun discovers a smiling young man walking right towards him. He’s bright and cheery, just like the rest of the toy store, and his nametag says “Daesung” in bubblegum pink characters.
“I’m fine,” Seunghyun mutters, burying his hands into the pockets of his baggy jeans. “I don’t need help.”
“Don’t be shy, I would love to help you!” says Daesung, grinning brightly enough to blind everyone in the store. “What’s a big guy like you doing in a cute little toy shop?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing?” Daesung laughs, and even his laughter is filled with brightness and cheeriness and too much energy. “Oh, come on. You can tell me.”
Seunghyun scowls at Daesung, hoping he’ll be intimidated into hightailing his cheerful self out of there, but Daesung just laughs again and flings an arm around Seunghyun’s shoulders, as if they’re best friends. “Really now, what are you looking for? I sweeeaaar I can help you.”
“Dolls,” Seunghyun mutters quietly, trying to ignore Daesung’s arm around him. “Where are the dolls at?”
“Right this way!” With speed that can’t possibly be human, Daesung’s arm is gone and he’s grabbing Seunghyun’s hand, tugging him towards one of the store aisles. “Ta-da! All the dolls you could possibly ask for, right here!”
“Thanks.” Seunghyun quickly pulls his hand out of Daesung’s grasp and browses the aisle, all too aware of Daesung’s smiling face watching him. He’s particularly interested in the Barbie brand and looks at several types before choosing one with long blond hair and an equally long dress.
Daesung is only too happy to lead him to the purchase counter, loudly cooing over the doll in an incredibly embarrassing way. Seunghyun blushes and pulls out his wallet, too shy to tell Daesung to shut his mouth. “So who’s going to be the lucky owner of this pretty thing?” Daesung asks as he rings the doll up at the cash register.
Seunghyun thinks fast. “Um… my little sister.”
“Wonderful! How old is she?”
Seunghyun blinks. “What?”
“How old is your little sister?”
“Oh, um… ten. Yeah, she just turned ten.”
“Great!” Daesung puts the doll in a bag and hands it to Seunghyun. “I hope your little sister enjoys her beautiful doll!”
“Yeah, sure. Thanks.” Seunghyun takes his bag and hurries out of the store as fast as he can. As soon as he’s alone he takes out his newly purchased doll and admires the beautiful detail that was put into her face and hair.
A perfect addition to his toy collection.
The end.
