disturbing things

I just watched Sin City. It left me with the same feeling that I got from Apocalype Now, all those years ago; I was shaking. I've been asking myself what's the difference. Apocalypse was a movie that I've told others to watch - as horrible as it is, it represents something that happened - the collective madness that war creates. There was a ( Read more... )

Sin City, in my opinion, was a positively beautiful film. Yes, the gore was a bit much but even the comics had that almost cartoonish amounts of gore in them.

The cinematography in the film itself was positively gorgeous. I loved the way it had the old noir detective movie feel to it.

The reason it's all so graphic and twisted as it may seem is primarily because, and I know you already know this, but Sin City is a town with pretty much no laws. I mean, Elijah Woods' character felt "touched by God" when he killed and ate people. Pardon my French but how fucked up is that?

I am yet to see Apocolypse Now but I've wanted to see it for quite some time.

Another thing about the gore. Quentin Tarentino was a guest director so there's going to be absurd amounts of blood-shed.

Hope you liked the movie!

NO, I didn't like it. I can't look at that much gore and enjoy it. I didn't like Pulp Fiction, either. I basically don't really like anything Tarentino is involved in. The cinematography was interesting, though. That was Elijah Wood - the creep with the glasses?

i liked the move JUST for the art, and the way it was filmed. I didn't like the gore, or even the story.
I liked it becuase it still looked like a comic book. Which is, i think, the only way anyone could watch that much gore. Most anyone i know liked it for the same reason.
So i have mixed feelings.

Yeah, I can see that. I just couldn't stand the gore. (Watched it during dinner - big mistake).

The thing that bothers me the most about this movie is: What will they do to top it? Where is the line of morality? If movies like this are designed to continually move that line, where does it stop?
