There are days when I am happy not to be a full member of the staff. The Japanese teachers have been in a meeting for three hours now. If I were there, I would likely be wishing for death because of how little I understand.

Maybe they are talking about the April Changeover (jinji idou). I hate that. I don't want my supervisor to move offices! He's awesome! And yet, everyone seems to be convinced that he is going to be moved - even tho no one knows yet. Aaaah... :(

It's not much of a comfort to offer but I have the same situation with being-the-outsider too. It's hilarious sometimes. For example, I've been here for a year and a half, but only TODAY did my boss realize that if asked me to write down all the notes for the meeting in Japanese, I can do that. "What the heck!" he laughed, "I should've asked you to take notes like this MONTHS ago!"
