Dusk approaches. I silently observe the breathtaking sunset. The brilliant red sky is so captivating. I spot you in the distance, coming closer. A sweet smile graces your lips as you skip along happily. Screeching to a halt, you turn around, love clearly in your eyes. Mouthing I love you, you hold out a heart-shaped card.
I smile softly, liking the romantic atmosphere. The card is perfect, just like you in my eyes. Your heart warming smile, your twinkling eyes, your cute cheeks, all perfect. As I reach forward to take the card, someone steps in front of me, blocking me.
I step back, shocked at the rudeness. I watch as you hand the card to him and kiss him on the cheek. As you slip your hand into his, I remember. You are no longer mine. He has stolen your heart from me.
I watch as you walk away with your new-found lover. You chatter happily with him, never even noticing my presence. I have no longer any place in your heart. All our memories, our moments, gone. I quietly stand by the side, watching as he pulls you into a sweet kiss. The happiness in the air does not enter my heart. For my heart is filled with sadness, and my eyes begin to water.
Silent sobs wrench themselves out of me, I fall to the floor. I am still unnoticed by the two of you. As the kiss becomes more passionate, my heart shatters more. Is my heart made of glass? Maybe it has turned to glass after you stole it from me. You must have dropped it and broken it. Why else would it hurt so much? As you pull away from the kiss, you turn to me. I look up, hoping against hope that you will at least notice me, comfort me. However, it seems as if you have really forgotten me. You turn away, ignoring my silent pleas, and disappear into the distance. That's when I know, I have truly lost you.
I still remember when you loved me, and only me. You would gently kiss my cheek, and put your small hand in mine. We would cuddle on your bed at night, snuggling under the covers together. I would breathe in your intoxicating scent and feel my heartbeat race. I will always remember how comfortable I had felt around you and you alone.
