"I wonder sometimes," Jinki says, pausing for a while for a sharp intake of breath, "if I try to hard."
Jonghyun quickly glances to his side, the empty space between them, the distance enough for five people to fit in. The other members have decided to continue with the promotions despite the lead singers going down with the flu. Jinki's been sick for the past two weeks, and Lord knows Jonghyun will be sick for a far longer time. Jonghyun inches a bit closer, casually cocks his head to Jinki's direction and says, "Mhmm, go on."
"I never get things right on the first try. I always need a second chance." Jinki clenches his fists, the little frustrations bottling up and slipping from his lips, the edges of his eyes in tiny teardrops that roll down his cheeks. "I never do things right, and it's just so tiring being in the wrong. I can't afford these mistakes. I can't afford to make them. I'm the leader. I should be your role model. I should be great, not good enough." The rise and fall of Jinki's chest becomes steadier as his voice

oh anon my heart, it hurts. this is very good, subtle, emotional and delicately handled. the opening para, especially the analogy with the broken heart and the bit about 5 as 1, just lovely. and the last line is great.

Every day, Yoojin thinks about her day and the mistakes she's made during the course of it. At the end of the month, she thinks about the worst ones. At the end of the year, she thinks about the worst of the worst and berates herself silently, hiding it from the other girls. She sits alone when she does this. It's easier that way. If she happens to cry over spilled milk, there's no one to see it

i went to the store today, and saw an old friend. she's pregnant now, already in her sixth month. i could hardly believe it, and she looked so radiant and glowing that i even felt happy for her. her belly is a giant ball just popping out of her body, so delicately, you want to tug at it to see if it's real. but she let me touch her belly, which is nice of her, kind of her even. i think she's finally warming up to me. i think the baby will be beautiful. if only you could hear its heart beating like i did. when i pressed my ear against her belly really close, people thought i was the dad. but i can't be the dad. i only love one person in my life. do you remember her name? i forgot it, it's been a decade since we've been in high school together. i didn't like her back then, but since she's pregnant and happy, very much happy with her husband, i'm glad. i'm really glad. i think i'm a nice person. do you know i'm a nice person? you should, we've been best friends for longer than i've known her, and we'll keep being best friends. you're not
