We've figured out that we're staying in the Golden Nugget hotel while in Vegas and going to the Grand Canyon with Vegas Airlines, who seem to be the only airline offering flights without a tour attached. The reason we're not taking a bus is that there are no buses going there that don't have tours attached to them and it will take about 5x longer

Of note: my cousin is a travel agent and she has mentioned if you want to do the canyon, a helicopter trip is one of the better ways. You can go to that new platform but apparently they gouge you pretty good.

Well, the thing is that we don't want a guided tour. After we get to Grand Canyon, AZ, we're probably going to hit our hotel and ~then~ go out with our gear for the hike. I'd be surprised if we went to the platform at all.
