more on the shrine

Okay, okay, I know. But this is the last weekend before classes start, I have a reading assignment due for Thursday already, so, well, let met take this opportunity for my last fannish squees before they become "Squee! God, I should really be doing something else!" :)

So I was thinking in the shower )

I completely agree with you.

I've always had the feeling when John says it's going to be all right it's more to keep the team (especially Rodney) positive than him really believing it will.

Thanks!

And, yes -- John is saying things will be fine to keep everyone sane and held together, while I think his inner monologue is more along the lines of thinking this is the last mission they'll ever be on together.

Oh, John.

YES. TO EVERYTHING. The only thing that I wanted more from in this episode was to be watching it with you and Kait. Because seriously? YES.

And you are totally right about John and Rodney being the opposite of how they generally portray themselves. it's an act of desperation. Yes, this is it exactly. Because John has nothing but his adopted family (be it his Team, his men, the people of Pegasus, whatevers) and he doesn't want them to be left behind because he was by his "real" family/military/Earth ... and in my head this makes sense. But a big WORD to you!

Jeannie broke my little heart.

(On a side note, speaking of Shore Leave, I ran across an AMAZING fic that features blushing!virgin!John, romantic!Rodney and babies. Is it bad that I immediately thought how much fun it would be to read out loud? :) )

Awww. We should totally be planning another adventure!! Even if it's just to sit around with each other and watch SGA episodes and read bad fic aloud and eat lots of snacks. I would definitely be down with that!

Oh, no, I think we're in the same place about John and the family he makes and the family he was born into, or that was supposed to accept him -- I absolutely get what you are saying. Word.

Jeannie is awesome and needs more screen time AND more fic. Stat.

(Dude. That fic sounds AWESOME. And AWESOMELY BAD. First, I want a link. Second, I think that we should bookmark that for the above mentioned adventure. :))

Yes, Yes, Yes to all of this. John is SO desperate in this episode, so sure that this is going to end badly, and I think he hates himself for it a little. I mean, even when Ronon and Teyla come up with the waterfall planet--he's willing to go along with it, but he doesn't really BELIEVE it, I don't think. He trusts Ronon and Teyla, but he's so sure it's going to end in disaster. Oh, John. I love them. ♥

Also, Rodney really DID talk about John the entire time! quackerscooper said to me, "I really feel like the higher ups took a look at this episode and said, 'Shit. We can't air this like this.' and put in some emergency het." The reason why the "I Love you" seems so out of place to me is because he really doesn't seem to give two shits about Keller except for at the very, very beginning of the illness. It is ALL about John for him, the entire time.

Re: Jeannie: I THOUGHT THE SAME EXACT THING.

WORD. Oh, John. Even with the waterfall planet, you're right, he trusted Teyla and Ronon, but it he agreed mostly because he didn't have anything else to lose -- Rodney was already all but gone and maybe this would help give Jeannie closure, so he agreed.

I . . . yeah. Even before the opening credits he's calling/begging for John. And, you know, who would you call for in that situation? The person you trust completely. Who gives you the most comfort. Who takes care of you. Whom you really love. People in situations like that, or dire circumstances, ask for their mothers, or their spouses. He doesn't even ask for Jeannie. Maybe because he knows she's not *there*, and she seems important for him to see and/or say goodbye to, but he's not actively asking about her or where she is.

I KNOW. Jeannie is such a mom. It's AWESOME. And I loved how she wanted to be there when Rodney woke up. Oh, Jeannie, breaking my heart, even when things are going to be okay.
