Since Livejournal doesn't like to load pictures very fast I'm putting photos up on Facebook whenever I upload any of these entries.
So yesterday we took Charlie up to be scanned and she has no puppies, which is good because Gill didn't want only one out of her.
The shepherd was up in Dumfries, Scotland in a village called Thornhill which is in the lowlands of rolling hills and sheep. He scans dogs, sheep and cattle and sounded very cool accent wise.
The other dog, Jessie, who is on lone to a Scotsman Billy was showing all the signs but also turns out not to have any, which was heartbreaking for the family. So today Billy came over and took little Ella, one of the 3 puppies, away to surprise his wife when she comes home from work. Now we are left with just two puppies, Lino the white one and Circo the tan one who bites. I like Lino because he settles down better but he is going to be big later on, plus Circo has the better body type for showing.
Hectic day with sorting stuff out, no time for walks so everyone just went on the field instead. We had to introduce Charlie back to the other 4 girls in the kennels which went off smoothly, except for Darcy who is in season and can be a handful. This week on Friday she will be mated to another dog down south, but Poppy's puppies come on Thursday so now is really the calm before the storm.
This afternoon we are taking the two boy puppies up to Gretna, home of underage marriage back when Scotland had a lower marriage age than England. We passed through it yesterday on the way to Dumfries. This is a dual trip, one to socialize the puppies for their training class tomorrow and then to get me some shopping done. We are going to an outlet mall next to the river where there are loads of people and slow cars to get used to. Lots of fell walking stores there so I can get some more heavy socks and stuff for the great rainfall tomorrow.
Apparently there is heavy rain in Wales so Monty will have a wet graduation, also she forgot her rain jacket here. Hopefully tomorrow we are going to an afternoon showing class to teach the puppies on how to stand and run up and down, which should be interesting.
The socializing shopping trip went wonderfully since the puppies are only 3 months old. Lino was a bit shy but they soon got used to it. Gill wants to get them out there 3x a week but it will be a bit difficult with all that's happening. I then bought five nice Edinburgh wool long socks for 7 pounds and a large box of shortbread. Then on the way back through Longton I checked out the bank hours to go later this or next week.
After getting home we switched around the dogs, getting Darcy out of the girl pack up in the kennels and putting her in Monty's room. So now the main house has pregnant Poppy, Joseph, and Raffles. The cottage has the Fir dogs: Fisher, Sia, and Dolly(who will be mated with Joseph later on) and in another room Darcy. Then up top there's Charlie, Flo, Secret and Aoife as the girls and Sam and Tom in the other kennel.
A lot of rain tomorrow that has just started, and lots of walks to do since we were too busy today.
