Hello all~~ I'm new to this community but I've been lurking around in it because I'm a creeper like that. :X
Anyway, I wanted to try my hand at writing a Kradam fanfic because they're oh-so-adorable together. ♥ Originally I intended on writing a lemon, but I started getting carried away on my detail and fluff and I just didn't have the heart to through in this raunchy lemon especially when it didn't really have any place to fit it in without it being ridiculously long. D: So instead I wrote a stereotypical 'fic of Kris musing over being unfaithful to Katy while still being in heated love with Adam. Ah well~ I have an idea for a lemon now so hopefully I could get that posted as soon as tomorrow without any problems. :]
I hope you guys like this and comments would be much loved. Please forgive me for any OOC-ness that may ensue, this is the very first Kradam fic I've ever written, and the only fanfic I've ever written with real people. :O

Title: "The Issue"
Author: x_candii_kiss_x
Rating: PG - For extremely mild cursing
Genre: Romance, angst
Pairing: Adam Lambert x Kris Allen and slightly implied Danny Gokey x Allison Iraheta
Summary: Adam Lambert and Kris Allen are in a not-so-secret relationship that's getting more and more serious as American Idol goes on. However, because of the secretecy and being unfaithful to his wife, Kris is unsure of what comes next.
When Kris had started the American Idol journey he had never expected any of the things that happened to him.
Sure, he knew this whole thing would be a life-changing experience, but nowhere to the extent that it was happening. No, before starting this journey he couldn’t even begin to imagine things would turn out this way no matter how hard he tried. But though things weren’t what he expected they were definitely even better.
Here he was. Top 4 in American Idol. Who would’ve thought? He remembered his shaking nerves, barely wanting to let go of his wife, Katy’s, hand before walking into the audition room before the judges. He took a deep breath to calm himself as did all the millions of contestants that auditioned, and was able to sing his heart out just like he had hoped. He had no idea that he was going to make it into Hollywood Week, into the top 13, and he was safe every single week, leading him closer and closer to the finale.
Things were nothing what he had expected and he couldn’t complain. This was his DREAM and he was living each and every second of it, proud and with a smile. The thought of having a record deal was no longer a childhood fantasy. No, the idea of it was now shining before him, barely in his grasp…just a little more…
But putting all of his joys related to his growing singing career aside, there was another issue that Kris just did not expect.
This “issue” was Adam Lambert.
Adam was indeed attractive. Even the straightest of males would have to say this, a grin on their face without any denial. But it wasn’t just Adam’s looks that were so captivating; it was his personality as well. Adam just had this persona about him that drew people towards him. Sure, Adam was a remarkable singer also doubling as the forerunner throughout this whole experience. But Kris was sure that it wasn’t just Adam’s singing alone that got him to where he was now. Adam had the whole package; looks, personality, confidence and of course, talent. Adam had this uncanny ability to make people love him.
At first Kris was a little wary of this Adam character. Adam was basically out-of-the-closet gay without even needing to mention his sexuality to anyone. Kris was nowhere near judgmental or close-minded, but at first he seemed just slightly unnerved of the taller male. However, with just speaking to him once he became hooked.
In a way it was a little strange becoming friends with Adam. Being friends with him was unlike all of the friendships Kris had ever had before. First of all, this was the first time Kris had ever found himself truly noticing how attractive this “friend” of his was. Sure, he had plenty of friends that weren’t ugly, but with Adam it was even past that. He found Adam Lambert physically pleasing to look at and what’s more, he WANTED to look at him.
Another thing that Kris noticed was the excitement he’d feel when he and Adam talked or were together. It wasn’t the same as when Kris spent time with his other friends or when he spent time with his new-found friends in the American Idol competition. No, around Adam, Kris’ heart would flutter from the anticipation of their next conversation, and he’d constantly find himself involuntarily smiling when he was near him.
This was just because he was becoming friends with a potential star, right? He was excited about the competition and so his feelings were reacting towards a fellow contestant.
Then why didn’t he feel it when he was near anyone else in this same situation as he?
The competition went on…
Kris Allen made it to the top 13. As did this little “issue”, Adam Lambert.
To make matters worse, they were doubled together as roommates.
Kris wasn’t sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing. He really was excited that he was roommates with Adam. But at the same time he was worried. Was it weird that he was so happy around him? Was this a natural feeling of his own, or did Adam just have the ability to do this to a person?
And the way Adam practically ran to their room in excitement that day only made things stranger for Kris. Why this single fact did made Kris’ heart flutter so damn much? Why did he feel so perpetually HAPPY that Adam was going to be sleeping in a bed next to his own?
These feelings went on and on. It wasn’t long before Kris was hopelessly addicted.
Adam’s looks, scent, breath, personality, his whole being…Kris found himself loving it all. He still attempted to deny this fact at times but when it came down to it, he knew it was no use. He didn’t even find his feelings weird anymore. He knew it was wrong, obviously it was. He was a married man! He felt agonizing guilt at what he was feeling and doing whenever he thought about Katy or saw her in the audience. The problem was that Kris still loved her. But his feelings for Adam were just growing stronger. He had no idea that he was going to meet Adam when he married Katy, he had no clue that someone like Adam even EXISTED at the time. Even if someone told him about this crazy future, Kris was sure to not believe it. Adam and he were both men. Kris had never had feelings towards another guy before, and he would never in a million years think that he even would.
He had just been hoping that these feelings would dissipate once the competition was over. Maybe this was just a strange crush…an unexpected infatuation due to all the other crazy feelings he was developing from being on this show.
He and Adam had never gone further than a kiss. It was just a kiss…or a few…or several…or many. He could make up for this in the end. Living a secret double life was okay, for now.
He had too much stress to deal with anyway, as selfish or self-centered this may have sounded. Right now he needed to live life day by day and see what happened in the future. Whatever happened, he hoped, would be the best thing for everyone in the long run.
“KRIS!” Called an energetic voice as Adam walked into Kris’ room, one that they no longer shared being the amount of free rooms in the mansion. Adam dropped his sweatshirt onto the floor as he shut the door, not thinking twice about it as he made his way over to Kris.
Kris rolled his eyes, but it was more in a joking way than anything else. “You still have to mess up this room even when we’re not sharing it, don’t you?” Adam laughed, “Well it’s so clean and boring in here, now!! It needs some of me lying around to spice it up.” He winked and leaned it, to kiss Kris on the cheek. Kris smiled half shyly, half nervously, but his focus remained up at Adam.
Their eyes were locked; why did Adam’s eyes have to be such a gorgeous shade of blue? Why did the eyeliner he insisted on wearing have to emphasize this so much?
Feeling shyness and nervousness taking over, Kris awkwardly looked away. He heard Adam giggle and kiss his forehead.
“I bet you’re lonely without me, aren’t you.” Adam said, teasingly. Kris shook his head, “How can I be? I see enough of you in the mansion and we’re always together anyway. We still share a bathroom, it’s not like we’re totally separated!” Adam smiled, “I’m happy about that. You’ve become my best friend here, Kris. We’ve all been really close since we were the top eight, but you’re the one I really hit it off with.”
Kris froze. Those words; “best friend”. He knew that was a lie. He and Adam both knew that by this point it was something much more than that. So why did they still have to be so secretive about their feelings? Why did they have to lie, even to each other?
“You know…” Kris started, changing the subject. “I think Danny knows…Matt had a feeling that something was up too. Even Allison probably-“ He smiled, slightly. “They’re not stupid, Adam. All of America could have figured it out by this point.” Adam’s bright and contagious smile remained on his face. “Are we that obvious? Either way that’s a strange thought, isn’t it? Millions of Americans everywhere realizing that Adam Lambert turned Kris Allen gay…” He laughed and so did Kris for a moment before shaking his head. “I’m not gay, it’s bi, and that’s not the point!! I’m serious!”
“I’m just teasing.” Adam sat patting Kris on the head sitting on the bed as he looked over at Kris who was still sitting at the desk chair. “Are you…embarrassed about it…?”
Kris shook his head, “It’s not that. Whether they have a hunch or not, it hasn’t been confirmed. Besides, Danny and Allison really aren’t going to care, they have that little love affair of their own and they wouldn’t judge us even if that wasn’t the case.
“Then what’s your point? Did I do something wrong again? Is it because of me messing up THIS room too?”
The thought of Kris actually being MAD over Adam’s messy habits had been an ongoing joke between the two since they read it in the National Enquirer. Kris just shook his head with a laugh. “No…I guess…it’s just…where do we go from here?” He looked up at Adam, a look of something that Adam couldn’t read was reflecting in his eyes. “We know each other’s feelings. I’ve made them more than clear, or at least I’ve tried to. And I understand yours… What do we do now? I’m married to Katy…we’re both on a reality show that one little mistake can ruin our chances at our life-long dreams. I don’t know what to do…”
Adam nodded, his expression completely readable. He understood what Kris was going through and he understood the feelings that he must’ve been dealing with. Normally relationships shouldn’t be complex, but in the situation they were in; on American Idol, and being that Kris was married just made things more difficult than comfortable.
The taller of the two sighed. “Kris…come here.” Kris simply blinked but listened, getting up from the chair to sit beside Adam on the bed. Before he could even get a chance to ask what Adam was planning he felt Adam’s large, but soft hands graze across his cheeks to hold his face gently. Leaning in, Adam kissed him. Kris couldn’t help but mentally shiver as their lips touched, as he always did. Feeling their lips brush together gave him a spark that he never felt before with anyone, including his high school sweetheart of a wife.
Kris found himself grabbing onto the front of Adam’s form-fitting t-shirt, pulling the other male forward to deepen the kiss further. Adam tilted his head to dip his tongue into Kris’ mouth, feeling the smaller accept it and move his tongue along the other males.
Kris had never in his life felt so vulnerable, scared, and yet happy at the same time and these feelings weren’t just because of the singing competition. Adam had the ability to suck these emotions out of him and Kris both loved and hated this at the same time.
They broke the kiss, and Kris panted slightly, looking up at Adam, his eyes wanting. Adam smiled, “THERE’S your answer.” Kris let go of Adam’s shirt and half-glared. “What do you mean, how does that solve anything!?” Adam shrugged, “You’re worrying too much. Just take one day at a time. Besides, aren’t I the one that’s supposed to worry all the time? You’re always the one to calm ME down, let’s not have to change our roles.”
Kris sighed, he wasn’t exact reassured but he accepted the answer. “Fine. I guess there’s no use worrying about something that hasn’t happened yet.” Adam smiled, “Exactly! Just worry about your singing this week and I’ll take care of everything else.”
Kris smiled up at him and half-hugged his chest. “Love you.” He mumbled into the fabric of Adam’s shirt.
The taller smiled and put his arm around him to hug back, pulling Kris close. “I love you too.”
This “issue” was slowly turning into a larger one but though problematic and stressful, Kris couldn’t say that he minded all too much. Taking each day at a time the only thing that he could stay certain of was that he wanted to win American Idol and that he was going to love Adam more and more every single day.
