Rating: G
Word Count: ~3.800
Summary: Based on this prompt from my recipient: Kris is a cupid, and Adam has no idea what's about to hit him. Literally, the guy just fell down from the sky and landed in his arms (or on him, or whatever). Love happens.
Author’s Notes: Special thanks to my awesome beta! And Birddi, I hope you like what I did with the prompt :)

It was a very busy day down the streets of downtown LA.

People were rushing down the street with their cellphones in hand or their nose stuck in a newspaper, one of them was Adam Lambert.

Adam was chatting very animatedly with his best friend Brad Bell on the other end of the line.

When suddenly he heard someone curse and the next thing he knows, he's lying flat on his belly, his phone flying out of his hand and crashing to the ground a few feet away from him.

Adam winced when he saw little pieces of his cellphone fly away. That phone had cost him some money!

Not that he had to complain, though. Because he had enough of money.

He just thought he could spend it on something better than a new cellphone.

He's pulled out of his thoughts of his broken cellphone by someone muttering apologies to him.

At least he thinks it's to him, because he feels the weight upon him shift, and when he looks up he sees someone trying to climb off of him.

When the person is finally off of him, he sees a hand outstretched in front of him and he gratefully takes it, while pushing himself up from the ground with his other hand.

When he's finally standing up, he has to look down a little to actually see the person that fell on him, and when he does he's met by the cutest guy he's ever seen.

But how the hell could he have just fallen on him? Can he fly?

No... That's just ridiculous.

"I'm so, so sorry!"The cutie spoke up, pulling Adam out of his thoughts, "I didn't mean to fall down on you, I just wasn't paying attention while I was flying down this street and..."

"Wait, hold up a minute..." Adam interrupted the rambling boy, "What do you mean you were flying?"

The guy smiled shyly, "Do you know what day we are?"

"The 14th of February...Oh,"a light bulb went off in Adam's head, "You're a cupid?"

The guy nodded, "Exactly,"he extended his hand to him, "I'm Kris."

Adam smiled and shook Kris' hand, "Adam. Nice to meet you, Kris."

"Likewise."

Kris smiled at Adam and Adam thought it was the sweetest smile he had ever seen.
Adam, the curious guy he was, had a lot of questions for Kris now he knew that he was a cupid.

Questions like: how did they make those arrows and did they ever miss their target?

"How we make those arrows is kind of a secret, so I'm afraid I can't answer that question. But, oh yeah, do they miss their target sometimes...The most awkward situations happen then."

"Like what?"

Kris looked around to find a couple, so he could make his point clear.

"You see that cute couple over there?" Kris nudged his head to a boy and a girl walking hand in hand.

"Yes, I see them."

"Can you imagine if I point my arrow to that boy who just walked past them?"

"He would fall in love with the girl. Or, if he's gay, he would fall in love with the boy."

Kris laughed, "Exactly. Either way, it would turn out into a fight."

Adam smiled, imagining the fight, "That would be so funny to watch."

Kris nodded, "For you, and all the other people watching them, it would look funny indeed. For them. Not so much."

"Probably not..."

They talked a little more about Kris being a cupid.

When Adam asked him why he had never seen a cupid before, Kris' answer was very simple.

"If you would take time and look up sometimes, then you might see us more. People these days are always walking with their phones pressed against their ears, or with their noses stuck in a newspaper. I think it's disgusting."

Adam fidgeted with his hands, suddenly feeling guilty about hanging on the phone just a couple of minutes ago.

"You're right, us people should take in our surroundings more."

Kris smiled at him. "Exactly. You get that chance now your phone is broken."

Kris winked at him and Adam fought the blush that was starting to spread on his cheeks.

"So, um..." Adam asked nervously, "Do you want to grab lunch with me?"

He got rewarded by a sweet, beautiful smile.

"Sure, I could eat something."

"Great!"

So both of the boys went to Starbucks to grab a sandwich and went to the park.

They walked, and talked some more about all kinds of stuff.

Adam was surprised how well they got along.

But Kris was a real laid back guy and Adam liked that a lot about him.

They spend the whole day together until it was time for the sun to set.

"I really had a lot of fun today."

Adam smiled, "So did I."

"You see, you can have fun without your precious cellphone too. You don't need all that luxury."

"Ha ha, very funny..." Adam punched Kris' shoulder lightly. "But you're right... Everyone should get to realize this."

"Well, spread the word!"

Adam laughed. "Maybe I will."

Kris let his wings unfold behind his back and fidgeted with his sleeves a little.

"I should go... The day is almost over and I have to be back home before midnight."

"Or your fairy godmother will punish you?"

Kris laughed, "Something like that, yeah."

"When will I see you again?"

Kris gave a small smile, looking down at the ground, he spoke softly, "Next year..."

"Next year?" Adam asked confused, "But..."

"I'm a cupid, Adam. I can only come to your world every 14th of February."

"Oh," Adam answered sadly, disappointment clear in his voice, "I understand..."

"I"m sorry." Kris put his hand on Adam's arm. "I'll look forward to it though. I hope the year will go by fast."

"Yeah," Adam sighed. "Me too."

Kris suddenly reached up on his tiptoes and brushed his lips against the corner of Adam's mouth.

"Bye, Adam," Kris breathed. "See you next year."

Before Adam could react, or say something back, Kris was already gone.

~~

All through the rest of the months, Adam found himself looking more around himself as he walked through town.

Especially at the sky...

He hoped beyond hope that he would at least get a glimpse from Kris.

But it seemed that he hadn't lied when he had told him he couldn't show up before the 14th of February.

Adam felt himself getting more and more frustrated and started counting down the days until next February.

Why oh why couldn't the days go by faster?

He wanted to see Kris again. And he wanted to see him now!

Strange how one encounter with that boy could make him yearn for more...

~~

Finally...

Finally valentines day had arrived and for once in his life, Adam was happy about it.

He usually didn't celebrate it at al. Mainly out of lack of a boyfriend, but also because he thought it was kind of stupid.

He found it way more romantic to surprise your boyfriend , or girlfriend for that matter, on any kind of day.

Not to just pinpoint one day to show him/her your love, no!

You should do that every day! Not just one stupid day in the year that people called 'Valentine's Day'.

And if you really think about it... You know he has a point.

Anyway, the day he had been waiting for for so long was finally there and Adam eagerly went outside.

They spend the day almost the same way as they did a year ago...

Talking, going to lunch, walk through the park...

They were getting closer and closer, and both learned so much about each other.

Then came the hardest part...Saying goodbye.

This time, Adam was the one who initiated the kiss. And it wasn't one on the corner of Kris' mouth...

It was full on his lips.

Adam didn't even know why he did it, it just felt right...

And it wasn't like Kris fought against it. Oh, hell no!

The moans that slipped the cute brown eyed boy's lips were making Adam go insane.

He was so close to just fuck him right there and then.

But he wanted to wait... Besides, he would have to wait another year to get the chance to fuck him again.

And that was way too long...

Kris left again. Flying up into the sky.

Adam stared after him until he couldn't see him anymore...

Damn, if only the next year could arrive sooner than it usually would .

~~

Two more years had gone by and it hadn't gone unnoticed with Adam's friends that Adam always seemed happier when February came close by.

Especially not to the all-seeing eye of Brad Bell... Nothing ever escaped that eye.

While the others wondered in silence, he voiced the question out loud.

"What has gotten into you lately, Adam? Got a new boyfriend you want to keep a secret from us?"

Adam shook his head, "I don't have a boyfriend, and if I had, there would be no way I could keep him a secret from you."

"You've got that right, baby! Now seriously... What's going on with you?"

"Can't a man be happy without a reason?"

"A man can, but you can't."

Adam rolled his eyes, "Fine. There is this boy..."

"See!" Brad interrupted, pointing his finger at Adam accusingly, "So there IS a boy..."

"Are you gonna listen or not?"

Brad made a zipping motion with his hand in front of his mouth and let Adam continue.

"Good. I can only see him once a year, so, it is kind of a problem if I would want to begin something serious with him."

"Hmmm Mph! Mmmmmphhh!!!"

"You can open your mouth, Bradley."

Brad let out a huge breath and inhaled again, "Why can you only see him once a year? What the hell is he? A cupid?"

Adam didn't answer, he just stared at his feet and Brad's eyes widened.

"He is a cupid, isn't he?"

Adam nodded, "Yeah, he is."

"That's crazy!" Brad exclaimed, "Only Adam Lambert could meet and fall in love with a cupid."

"I'm not in love with him."

Brad cocked his eyebrow, "Really? Come on, boo. You know I know you better than that."

"I've only seen him three times. This Saturday will be the fourth time I see him. How can I be in love so fast?"

"Maybe he shot his arrow at you without you noticing it. Speaking about arrows... Have you seen his special arrow? The one that's hidden in his pants I mean... Do cupids even wear pants?"

"Brad!"

"Just answer the question."

Adam sighed. He knew Brad wouldn't stop rattling on if he didn't answer.

"No, I haven't seen his 'special arrow'... And yes, he does wear pants. Very tight ones even."

"Oh, good. He's saving that arrow just for you."

"Brad, please..."Adam groaned and put his hand in front of his eyes.

Brad smiled at himself; he was good at getting people frustrated. Especially Adam.

"When am I gonna meet mister charming?"

Adam almost choked in his own saliva, "Meet him?"

"Yeah, I want to see the guy that makes you so fucking happy! I want to see for myself if he's a keeper or not."

And again, Adam knew there was no point in arguing with Brad. The last thing he wanted was a scene about his "love life" with his ex.

"Fine, you can come with me to the park Saturday. That's were we're going to meet again."

"Great! I'll see you then."

Brad left Adam alone and Adam couldn't help but wonder if it was such a good idea to take Brad with him to a date with Kris.

Since when did it become a date actually?

They barely knew each other, but still, it felt like they'd known each other a lifetime.

But still, Adam didn't really consider it as a date. Especially not with Brad hanging around them.

So, what exactly could go wrong?

~~

Kris had been very excited to see Adam again after another year of impatiently waiting. He sometimes wished he wasn't a cupid... Things would be so much more simple then. He wished he would be able to really date Adam one day, as a normal human being.
Then nothing or no one could keep them apart anymore.

When Kris walked into the park and saw Adam sitting on a bench, laughing and talking with another boy he had ever seen before, he thought he could hear is own heart break into pieces.

How could he have been so foolish?

Did he really think Adam could fall for him?

That boy with him seemed so sparkly, and when Kris looked down at himself, the only thing he saw was plaid and jeans.

Stupid out of fashion plaid, and plain old jeans...

There's no way Adam could've fallen for him...

Kris sighed, turned back around and flew back to his house, high up in the sky.

Let the others have their fun while he goes back and sulk.

It serves him well, after being so foolish to think that Adam liked him. Because he obviously doesn't...

~~

Adam and Brad had been waiting all day for Kris to show up in the park, but he just didn't came...

Adam was sad and disappointed and Brad tried everything to try and soothe him.

Telling him that Kris must've had a very good reason for not showing up, and that maybe he would show up another day. And if not, Adam just had to wait another year.

Adam didn't believe one word Brad said.

He knew the reason why Kris didn't show up...

He was just a human being and Kris was so much more than that.

~~

When Kris came back home, he was surprised to see Simon; the man who practically created all the cupids, sitting on the couch in the living room.

"You're back early," Simon stated, looking at Kris from behind his newspaper, "Did something happen?"

"No," Kris answered, "That's just the problem... I wanted for something to happen and it didn't."

Simon frowned, "What did you want to happen?"

Kris fidgeted with his hands, "There's this guy..."

"A human?"

Kris nodded, "Yes, although he almost looks like an alien..."

"An alien?" Simon asked confused.

Kris laughed nervously, "Never mind that. He's just...Amazing. I really like him a lot."

"Hmm," Simon mused, "Enough to give away your wings?"

"What?" Kris blurted out, "I uh... What do you mean? Enough to give away my wings?"

"Well, you seem quite fond of the boy, and you know that I can't allow you to start a relationship with someone other than one of my cupids. Besides, what kind of relationship would it be if you can only see each other once a year? It would be no relationship at all."

Kris sighed, "I know... I don't even know how I've got into this, so deeply. I've only met him three times and still I think I'm falling in love with him. No, scratch that! I am in love with him..."

Simon smiled, which actually rarely happened, but now he did.

"What would you say if I gave you one year to follow him, see if you still like him after that, and I will let you become a human."

"Seriously?" Kris asked surprised, "You'll let me follow him a whole year in the human world?"

Simon nodded, "Yes, but I'll be watching you. If he ever catches you following him, it's over. I will never let you go to the human world again."

Kris swallowed, "Isn't that kind of drastic?"

"Maybe it is, but it's the only chance you've got of being with him. Do we have a deal?"

Kris didn't even have to think about his answer. Seriously, what the hell was there to think about?

Kris stretched out his hand for Simon to shake it, "Yes, we have a deal."

~~

After a year of practically shadowing Adam everywhere he went, Kris had made up his mind.

He wanted him, so badly.

He found out that the boy who had been sitting with Adam in the park the year before, was actually his ex boyfriend.

He had also learned that he had no reason to be jealous or scared of him, 'cause Adam wasn't planning on going back to him.

The best, and most beautiful thing he found out about Adam, was his singing voice.
If Kris thought his speaking voice was beautiful, it was nothing compared to his singing voice.

Kris went back up to Simon, to tell him what he had decided.

The decision that would change his life forever...

"So," Simon said, sitting on the same couch as last time, looking up at Kris, "I assume you made your decision."

"I did," Kris answered firmly, "I want to be a human. I want to be with Adam."

That rare smile spread across Simon's face again.

"So be it."

Simon raised his magical arrow at Kris, and in just a few seconds, Kris had disappeared.

~~

Adam had been miserable the last two years. All because of Kris...
Kris hadn't shown up again this year, and Adam had lost all hope of ever seeing him again.

He missed him... More than he ever thought he would.

Adam was startled out of his thoughts when his doorbell rang. But that reaction was nothing compared to when he opened the door and saw who his visitor was...

"Kris!" Adam exclaimed and had to hold himself back from flinging his arms around him, "How... What..."

"Shh," Kris put his index finger on Adam's lips and gently pushed him inside, shoving the door shut with his foot once they were inside, "Questions later. Kiss now."

Kris reached up and Adam met him halfway.

Sparks were flying as lips met and hands started roaming over each others bodies.

They were both thinking to themselves:

This is the best fucking Valentine's Day ever!
