Congrats on the GRE, and a hearty woot for Obama :). The extra verbal section is normal; they always give one extra section of either math or verbal, one of which is an unscored experimental section (though of course the don't tell you which is which).
I do think there is something at least personally important with this election, not that I've been following Obama since before he decided to run for this position, not that he's a Black guy, not that a Democrat is president for the first time since January of 2000.
It's important here that when I got my ballot and voted, I voted FOR someone and not AGAINST someone. All too often I think we vote against someone. Was anyone really energized about John Kerry? Not really, but most of us who voted for him were voting against Bush.
