She stood alone, in front of the school's gate staring blankly and afraid of the next step. Yesterday had been terrible, they day before had been even worse.
It wasn't fair. She wanted to go home. She wanted to go back to the place that she called home. She missed them.
"HEEEY~~!!!" Yelled someone behind her. She would have turned, she would have waved and she would have waited and walked into school with the person who called. She would have, if it had been for her. She wanted her friends back. She wanted her life back. The yeller walked by and snickered with the person they were calling as they walked by her.
"Why are you here, go away forty-shortie." Her heart stopped and for once in her life, she turned away and ran. Just ran. She needed to escape and there was one place she could go without being judged. So she ran there, it was far from her school and her feet hurt but she got there. She got there, and knocked.
It was a Monday, and she knew that they would have been at school but, Isa always missed Monday's. Always, always, always.
"..hello?" She gasped, not expecting someone else to open the door.
"Is Isa home?" The little child that had opened the door nodded and let her inside. She dropped her bag, took off her shoes and dashed up the stairs, past the child and barged into Isa's bedroom. He looked up from his book, shocked that she had just barged in. Though, he didn't say anything because she looked like she was going to cry.
"..Hope?" She sniffled, let out a choked sob and launched herself at him, letting out her sobs as he rubbed her back and took out his phone.
"Is it an ice-cream and awesome movie day?" She mumbled marathon and he grinned, "Of course." He texted two people and within the hour, they came to his door, one knocking very loudly and the other standing there about ready to hit the previous person. The little child opened the door again and let to two other inside. They took off their shoes and dropped their bags and went upstairs.
One kicked the door open and pointed an angry finger at the crying girl.
"YOU.WERE.SUPPOSE.TO.CALL." The crying girl looked up, her face still red and tears still rolling down her face, still holding Isa for comfort.
"I-I'm s-s-sor-r-ry." A voice behind the kicker sighed.
"You don't have to be mean Bonnie. It's clear that she needs us." Bonnie turned and glared at the boy behind her.
"Shut-up Simon. If she had called like she promised, I would have dealt with the problem." She walked in and sat on the other girl's legs. Isa sighed.
"If you had done that, they might have moved her farther away." Bonnie opened her mouth with a reply but Simon quickly covered it with his hand.
"Don't say something stupid. Anyways, I brought Lord of the Rings. She brought Pirates and I assume you have ice-cream in your freezer." Isa nodded and gentle patted the crying girl on the back. He slowly slipped out of bed, grabbed his crutch and hopped his way down the stairs. Everyone else followed.
Bonnie plopped herself on the couch, both Isa and Simon went to the kitchen and started to get the ice-cream ready.
"Hope, come sit. We need to speak." Jem came and sat down beside Bonnie and let her head fall on her shoulder.
"I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't do it, I didn't do anything wrong; they just started with my eyes and they my hair and then..." Bonnie glared and shrugged Hope off her shoulder, Hope looked up at Bonnie.
"Where is the strong girl I grew up with? Where is the one that stupidly took the blame for something she didn't do to save her friends? Where if the girl who use to let no one beat her down? Where is my best friend?" She whispered the last question out and turned to face Hope, a determined look on her face, "Where did you go?" Hope looked away.
"It got bad. At home, made me terrified to go anywhere. Could your mom work her magic and let me live with you? Does the offer still stand?" Bonnie nodded and whipped out her phone.
"You sure?"
"For once, in a very long time, positive." Bonnie nodded and started to call her mother. She got up and left the room to continue the conversation in a more quiet space. Simon and Isa came back into the room.
"Still strong?" Jem looked up at Simon, as he hung off the back of the couch waiting for Isa to sit on the couch. He did and Simon took the other side. For once since Jem came that day, she smiled.
"Not yet, but I'll get there. Hopefully soon." Isa snickered, Simon rolled his eyes and Hope let out a sigh.
"Really Isa? Not funny." Bonnie came back into the room and cuddled up to Simon.
"Really because I though it was hilarious." Hope rolled her eyes and got up to pop the movie in. She cuddled up to Isa and they all cuddled together.
The small child came in later and laid on top on Isa and quickly fell asleep.
