My parents chose to put me in private school for kindergarten because the private school worked on reading & memory work (alphabet, name, address, colors, etc) & that sort of thing for half the day, then sent us home to our families/baby-sitters for our naps & playtime. The public school kindergartens in my neighborhood had snack time & naptime & playing with toys, but no actual _lessons_.

After that, they kept me in private school because they met & liked the teachers & it was free if we were members of the congregation.

Because of my kindergarten experience, I'd probably recommend private school--at least at that level....though they may have changed the public school curriculum by now. For high school, I'd almost definitely recommend public school, though, just for the additional offerings they have which the small private schools like I went to aren't equipped to handle.

I'm with you on that! I liked private school when I was there (1st and 2nd grade), but didn't appreciate public school until high school (because I liked band, and my brothers were in so many sports).

At the moment, Michael wants to put the money in a savings account and send PJ to public school. Registration for the private kindergarten is/was tonight. Registration for the public school is Thursday evening.
