Good Day

I just got home after having a good day.

This morning Laura and I woke up a butt o'clock for an end-of-the-year trip to San Francisco. I headed out to get gas only to find that the Sam's gas station didn't open until 9. We picked up Jessica after visiting a Shell, then stopped at McDonalds for a very healthy breakfast. Thats when I saw that my back tire was flat. I decided to just put air in it and drive to the City anyway. We stopped in Vacaville to check the tire and it was fine.

Our first stop in the City was the Exploratorium. We spent most of our day playing with all the nifty gadgets and yelling at the kids who didn't stand in line to look at the really cool stuff. At 3 we realized we should break into the water and snacks we packed and journey to the next stop before our "early" dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Jessica really wanted to go over the Golden Gate Bridge, so we went thinking it would be a quick jaunt across the bridge and back. It took 30 minutes to get over the bridge, and another 10 to get into the parking lot at the Vista Point. We were lucky enough (thanks to Laura's keen eye) to get a parking spot and we took pictures. We then got back on Hwy 101 through the tunnel and one wrong turn later I found myself driving downhill into Sausalito. We got halfway down, I started to freak, and my brakes started to smoke. I finally started to calm once we were back on the freeway the right way and back over the bridge.

Our next stop before the "early" dinner was my brother's house. I wasn't sure this stop was going to be productive since I hadn't heard from him. I had to try in any case. We found the place easier than I had figured and there was no answer at the door. So we were back in the car and finally on our way to dinner. This is only part of the trip that we had directions. We followed them back towards the marina only to get lost yet again. I still have no idea where Merchant Street is - I never saw it. We found the restaurant in any case and after 30 minutes waiting in line for a parking space, we put our name in at the restaurant for our "early" dinner. It was 6:15 and we had at least an hour wait. We were tired, hungry and in some kind of pain.

At 10 we were finally back on the road home - getting lost one last time on the way to the Bay Bridge. We had to stop on the way home to put more air in the tire. Hooray for a slow leak! INew tires here I come! I am so ready to get some sleep. I need to be awake in 7 hours for another busy day.
