shopping with the stars in Myeongdong

Star marketing is probably one of the most popular ways of getting attention for a new brand in Korea.

In Myeongdong, there are two new "starry" stores.

There's SPAO, with Girls Generation and SuperJunior as their models. It's located between Uniqlo and Mango.

What is SPAO? I have a sneaking suspicion that SM is one of its investors,.. i shall find out more about this Gap-wannabe brand. Their stuff is pretty basic, jeans, shirts, sweaters and coats. Nothing really stands out. Except it is slightly cheaper than Uniqlo. I think it's going for a Gap look, but the quality is sort of Forever 21-ish for me.

SPAO even has collaborations with SNSD and SuJu, with surprisingly affordable stuff. SNSD shirts are just 9,900 won, while the SuJu sweaters are 39,000 or 49,000 won. So if you want to look like your favorite idols, this is place to go. :P

Ohhh and the SM karaoke place is at the fourth floor of the SPAO flagship store.

Check it out.

Just across the street from SPAO is Kwon Sang-woo's Tears. I have yet to check out Tears, which is supposed to be a make-up brand in the same vein as those cheap budget brands The Face Shop, Missha and Skin Food.

There's an overpriced tea shop Tea'us at the second floor. When I took this pic, the store just opened and KSW was supposedly at the second floor, but I doubt it. But I still took a snapshot anyway.
