spoiler-laden post

Phew. Think my brain is working a bit better now. Although I warn anyone who attempts to read this: this is a random collection of thoughts; don't expect it to be very coherent. ;)

Me likey the first couple of chapters chapters. Love it when the magical and Muggle worlds collide and also loved the fact that Fudge treats the Prime Minister in the condescending way, almost pitying his naivety. Heh.

Sad at so many deaths of important wizards/witches. Amelia Bones in particular.

Dumbledore and the Dursleys, hee!

So so so so much love for Hermione's disappointement at her "E" DADA and her jealousy of Harry's Potions ability. *So* Hermione.

Gred and Forge! Fan - bloody - tastic.

Snape teaching DADA...hmmm... I think more should have been made out of this. After all these years when Dumbledore had refused to give him the job, why does he give it to Snape now?

I loved all the Riddle backstory--really fleshed out Voldemort's character. His eleven year old self was just a tad disturbing though.

Horcruxes. Good.

Also liked the fact there was more Dumbledore/Harry interaction in this book. When I first read OotP it felt like Dumbledore had sort of abandoned him at a crucial time so I didn't have so much of the Dumbledore-love, but he seemed to have learned from his mistakes and invloved Harry a lot more in this book.

Feel sorry for Draco. That's a new emotion.

Wasn't so shocked at Dumbledore's death, knew it was going to happen but did not think for a second that it would be Snape. So Snape is evil and Dumbledore made a huge mistake. OR Snape is not evil, he only did it cos he had to, and this is actually all part of Dumbledore's master plan. Dumbledore seemed to be *so* sure and I just don't see Dumbledore pleading for his life. It's not something he would do. Think I'm just in denial about Dumbledore being fallible.

RAB. People are saying Regulus Black. Perhaps.

So Harry must save the world alone. Poor kid.

I shall do the shippiness separately, methinks.

Well, I finished the books feeling pretty darn good. But that's because I ship R/Hr, H/G, Bill/Fleur and Remus/Tonks. Heh.

People supposedly didn't like the H/G relationship cos they said it came out of nowhere. It was written in the stars, dudes! Girl has unrequited love for boy. Girl "gets over" boy. Boy realises his love for girl. Circumstances bring them together. IT'S CLASSIC! Don't you remember what happened to Joey and Rachel?

Also Ginny suits Harry in a way that no-one else does. They have things in common, particualarly their love for Quidditch. And more importantly, Ginny gives Harry balance. In OotP when Harry's going crazy angry, Ron looks scared and Hermione cries. Only Ginny has the balls to tell him to get a grip.

Boo to Harry breaking it off with Ginny, but I suppose it had to be done. He has to be all heroic and lonely and tragic I suppose.

I guess the R/Hr ship is still open as nothing as actually happened, but for all those who didn't previously see Hermione's attraction to Ron, I think you will find plenty of evidence in HBP to suggest otherwise.

Oh, and for all those who complained there was too much romance--dudes, they are *teenagers* with *hormones*, yes? Plus there is a war which makes for heightened emotions. So quit yer complanin'. ;)

There. I've said my piece.
