gifts. i think they're about our intention? we want to give gifts because God gave us a Gifts. and gifts nowadays could be quite humbling, i find, how it makes me realize how God gave us something that cost Him so much more than anything we give for Christmas these days, to a people who didn't even deserve it or felt like they needed it. what incredible love is that to celebrate?

at the same time, i don't believe in massive shopping for gifts for people. at bethel the other sunday, they suggested 4 good gifts to give. presence, forgiveness, reconciliation and self. all Biblical. so i think those are pretty good. and little things that remind us of those are also good.

yea, driving out idols. im working on it too. keep at it, kevin. :)

i think nowadays gifts are given less out of intention and more out of obligation. I think that if they were given out of good intentions then we wouldn't need a holiday for that. If someone needed something and you had the funds to provide it then you would do so.

I'm not sure what gifts you get, but the gifts i get are more distracting than anything else... distracting from God at times. Of course, a gift from God is certainly humbling, but i think sometimes i forget that humility, and even the depth of love that is behind that gift.

I like the sounds of those gifts though. the ones suggested at bethel..
