Bumping in here, but no, Cobra Starship was around before SoaP. Most famous for the Gwen Stefani cover-ish thang, "Hollaback Boy". You might have heard it.

Snakes on a Plane is an upcoming movie starring Samuel L. Jackson. The entire premise is that snakes get loose on a plane. The reason for this is so that Samuel L. Jackson can keep saying, "There are fucking snakes on this plane!" again and again. Just based on its title, it has gained a huge cult following. I hope this helps explain the phenomenon a little.
