SUCESS IS MINE!!!

Sock number one is complete! I even put in on last night and it fits. I think I should have made it a bit bigger because my feet are kinda fat and it stretches the yarn a bit, causing those gap/holes things, but overall I am quite pleased. I don't think I got the whole grafting thing down, but I can always try again on the next sock. PS - ( Read more... )

I would go with "Grace". It's perfect for Spring/Summer, which, by knitting rate, would when I'd complete the project. Plus it would look damn cute on you!
Unless you're planning on knitting quickly, and I'd do Kimono, which has the allure of a larger project, but at the same time has the advantage of changing stiches periodicly (seed and stockingette), so that it would remain interesting.

Good luck!

PS: Good for you- I'm still finishing my xmas presents!!!

Hmm, perhaps a nice dusty blue for the spring then to make "grace." I also I should stick with something smaller for my first top. You made a really good point. My sister wants me to make something from Stich and Bitch as she will be making herself a "Scully" from the book. She suggested a poncho, but I want to try to make something a bit more fitted. I just hope this girl writes good patterns.

If you're looking at SnB, try "Tank Girl". That has no sleeves (which are problematic) and knits up pretty fast. But "Grace" in blue would look sooo incredibly cute on you!

Congratulations! One down, one to go. I can't wait for pictures.

Grafting sucks, doesn't it? After I forced myself to do it, I wondered if you could just do 3 needle bind off instead. I looked at some patterns, and, turns out, you can. Much easier.

No advice on what to knit next. I can't decide for myself, although I keep coming back to this page: http://www.marariley.net/patterns.htm

I've been tempted by the exact same Knitty patterns! The revolution jacket has held me off by looking fairly time-consuming and complicated (stitch pattern, facings).

You've done socks. The sky's the limit, kid!

Perhaps you and I should consider a knit-along for the revolution jacket. We might be able to finish it by the fall. I also say we try to find some sort of cheap yarn to make it out of....and change the colors....red and gold perhaps?
