"You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you - you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

if we lose this election because of John Kerry's total and utter incompetance as a public speaker, I swear to God, I dont know what ill do.

If you're going to propagate this quotation, you should do so with the context...what he was intending to say was this:

"I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."

Not very funny as a joke, but the intent is obvious. Even Republican ex-Maj. Leader Dick Armey knows what's really going on here:

“Well, of course, this is a perfect example of politics in America … The President wants the people to perceive [Kerry] of having maligned our troops… I think John Kerry’s right. He’s making a defense of himself. He’s saying, ‘Look, I was not maligning the troops, I was maligning the President of the United States.'”

Anyway, this is not going to affect the election in the slightest. The stupid people who don't know the difference between a decorated veteran and a draft-dodging crew of warmongers are already voting Republican anyway.

My main intent at posting this particular point was that I think John Kerry is a douchebag. Sorry if I didnt get that across ;)
