The most positive thing I can say on this score: it was a performance by an actor who was mortally tired of the role, profession, and theater in general. He reads the prescribed text on one experience, without any energy and interest, confuses intonations, mumbles something that he himself does not believe in, just because it is necessary.

I'm reading a story "The Petty Demon" by  Fyodor Sologub now.  I read this story a long time ago during the Soviet Union when it was difficult to get it. Now I am re-reading it. This is a masterpiece of Russian literature!
