Roasting Coffee Beans

Dec 07, 2012 12:48

So I roasted my first batch of coffee beans.

Managed to avoid burning the beans, or burning down my apartment.

Managed to avoid setting off the smoke detector. I even managed to make a batch of coffee beans that taste good when made into coffee. Pretty good for a first attempt.  They'll get better from here I am sure.

If anything I would say the body is a bit lacking which might have been my choice of beans to try first, but from what I'm reading it may also be that I a) brewed coffee about 10 minutes after roasting and b) might have roasted a bit too fast.  Going to try with a slightly lower flame on the stove on my next attempt.

All in all a decent cup of coffee for my first try at this, not nearly as difficult as some people make it sound.  This like anything else isn't too tough if you have any talent at all for cooking.
