APPEARANCE: Examples: 1 2 3
He's about 6'3", blond hair and blue/green eyes. He has a scar on his forehead, near his right eye. Due to his stature, he can come off rather intimidating and even scary. He pretty much looks the stereotypical tall, pale, blond dutchman.

PERSONALITY & HOUSE REQUESTS:

Netherlands is a man of actions rather than words. This doesn't mean he's a good guy, but it doesn't mean he's bad guy. He's true to his words, yet there is an underlying shrewdness and some would describe as 'shady' behavior. At first he seems rather rough on the outside, even a bit of cold asshole to those he's not familiar with. He's intimidating, blunt in what he says. He doesn't talk much, but when he does, there's a good reason for it. He says what he thinks, and if he wants something, he'll say it right away (unless he's plotting something). He's not shy, but he's introverted in mostly wanting to keep to himself and being able to hear his own thoughts. Basically, he's no life of the party and probably is the guy who is the party pooper. Not that he's opposed to people having fun, though. He's into enjoying the simple things in life, and he usually enjoys activities involving just himself and occasionally another person. He loves a gardening, which very few know, and he loves planting tulips the most.

Netherlands is driven, ambitious, and adventurous -- that's what you get when you are a empire attempting to conquer as much of the world as you can and become filthy rich. He's explored parts of South America, Africa, South Asia, East Asia, and pretty much has a strong grip on South East Asia. He's struggled with getting his own freedom many times throughout history, so he respects personal space and personal rights… unless, hypocritically, you're close to him (e.g. colonies and siblings). He's not the kind of guy you want to say no to often, as you probably won't get the response you're hoping for. If he really wants to do something, he'll do it. If it's illegal, he'll find a way around the laws or rules to do it. He doesn't give up easily, and he's fierce about competition. This carries over to how he behaves while conducting business. He's a quick thinker, inventive and insightful when he sees a potential business idea. He's good with money, but he's known to "Go Dutch." He's always trying to make a buck and outwit people around him. It's nothing personal, though, really. He keeps his business and personal life separate, but several times they have overlapped, especially when it comes to family. If he doesn't see a profit in something, he'll probably get bored and leave unless it's deeply personal for another reason.

Netherlands has a very complicated relationship with his younger sister (Belgium). He's always felt compelled to be her big brother and be responsible for her. The thing is, he spent so many year apart from her and too many outside influences affected their relationship. Even though they are siblings, he feels he doesn't know her as well as he should. To make up for this, he does try to be a good brother, but it backfires occasionally. With those close to him, he can be possessive and even hypocritical. He doesn't mean to be outright controlling, but he just wants people who he cares about to do what he tells them (which he thinks is the best thing for them). It's rare that he openly expressions affection and is warm with people close to him. Instead, he drops hints or does favors, subtly showing he does care.

Most of the time he is rather stoic, prone to smoking and just nodding his head as he listens. It may seem like he's listening to move along, but he does take into account what people say and remembers it. He's neurotic with how he wants things done when it comes to personal affairs, and he enjoys keeping his surroundings neat and organized. He does not enjoy messes, and this brings out his neurotic side once again. He has a weakness for cute things, especially younger girls and bunnies. Don't judge him, okay? Liking cute things is never bad...

Since a lot of his main personality traits include Slytherin ones such as ambitious, driven, cunning, resourcefulness, and shrewdness, I'll request he goes there. If not there, Gryffindor could work for he is brave, daring, willing to put up a fight for what he believes in, and couragous.

COMMUTER DETAILS: Not aligned with Voldemort here.

POSITION: Student!

ABILITIES & POWERS: He doesn't have any out of the ordinary powers or abilities fort he most part. As a nation, though, he is immortal and can recover from wounds faster than humans (depending on a nation's economy). So as long a his nation is thriving, he'll stay alive. He does have some talents with gardening, so he might be good with working with herbology. He'll probably have a hard time with divination because he'll be very stubborn about believing any sort of thing like it as he believes he makes his own future.

WAND: Pine would be made up of the wood of his wand because he is known for being independent, a loner who is mysterious in canon. He lets very few people close to him, and most of the time those relationships are rocky. Since he is a nation, he has lived and will live a long time. The core will be dragon heartstrings. He does desire power and could be tempted to the dark arts. He'll easily show off his power if it is questioned. His wand would also be sturdy because he rather have someone else change besides himself. He's Stubborn, but he's not stubborn enough to be outright foolish. He'll learn to adapt if he has to or knows he'll be better off. The length will be fourteen inches since he is rather tall. Since his wand is dragon heartstring, and he is taking over other countries, his wand will lead towards the dark arts. As mentioned before in his abilities, he'll be good at herbology due to canon talents.

MISC.: I'd like to request he be allowed his canon pet which is a rabbit.

WRITING SAMPLESFIRST PERSON:

QUIL; since guess who is still used to writing.

[His writing is neat, and is rather legible as he wants to get his question across to as many people as possible.] I heard there's a way to turn metal into gold here. [Because he so wants to learn that. It's not his fault he's from an age where gold is highly desirable.] If there's a book on it, that'd be the easiest. [because dealing with people for too long sigh.]

Also, whoever thought it was funny to kick over the pots for the mandrakes better not do it again. Maybe next time the one you'll kick will have a mandrake in it.

THIRD PERSON:
When he was a very small, tiny nation during the rule of the germanic nations, he remembered magic and witchcraft was used. He was never scared of it back then, but mystified as to why humans practiced it. He never really believed in magic, and so he never was too caught up in the fear of it back then. He respected what the humans did, though. It gave them a drive, courage, and a purpose. It was there way of explaining the world to themselves. Then Christianity came along, and well, magic was shunned to say the least. Some places where he traveled, his troops were threatened with magic and curses. The native peoples didn't care for their lands being occupied. His men were sometimes scared, but he dismissed such claims.

Now that he had arrived in a place of magic, he was starting to rethink those claims. He had mixed emotions about seeing such magic. At first he was wary, but he kept his complacent demeanor. Wary not because of the reality of magic, but of what it meant. Others could use this magic, and if that is true, he would have to learn how, too. What if someone really did curse his men back in the spice islands? Those tropical illnesses were like curses. Luckily, as a nation, he never got it, but he saw one too many of his men die because of them.

If there was magic to be learned, he could harness this. He could become an even more powerful nation. Was there a way to really fly on broom sticks? Create food instantly? Move across a room in a blink of an eye? If these things were possible, he wanted to learn how. He could transport the spices in hours instead of months, years, even. He could take down other armies a lot easier, more efficiently.

He also knew he had a duty here, and that was the condition. Many times had he fought for freedom of those oppressing and attempting to hurt him. He had defeated Spain, and now he was a free nation. While things were urgent back at home, he knew if he helped this Dumbledore, he too could learn the way of the wizards and of magic. He would go to school, learn, and come out as a more powerful nation.
