I've had dinner at my dad's house all week. Yesterday he picked me up from work and we went kitchen table hunting. I found one, and a dresser and a laundry basket. I finished putting together the TV table and I put up curtains in the kitchen window. The TV table instruction sheet was fucked up, it showed a LOT of the pieces with both the holes that

Have you tried craigslist? You might be able to find stuff on there for cheap.

How is your summer break so far? Lazy or busy?

Plus, I'm getting busy with planning my trip to South Africa and making sure all my stuff is in order and figuring what I need to bring along with me. I leave on the 30th, so I have just a couple of weeks to work on the school stuff I'll miss for two weeks and other things I'll have to do before I leave.
But I like being busy!

Haha, did the translation come out of Asia? Things made in China have the best translations!
Gah, I'm getting the same thing you had with the round trips vs. single trip. It's infuriating! I'd hoped to save money by leaving my family trip in Spain to fly to Finland - but -
$1893
Depart Helsinki (HEL)
Arrive St. Louis (STL)
Duration: 36hr 6mn
Connect in Copenhagen (Kastrup), Brussels (National)
flight $1,459.30
Depart Helsinki (HEL)
Arrive St. Louis (STL)
Duration: 17hr 55mn
Connect in London (LHR), Chicago (ORD)
Depart St. Louis (STL)
Arrive Helsinki (HEL)
Duration: 16hr 25mn
Connect in Chicago (ORD), Paris (CDG)
What gives? And why does the one way flight take so much longer?
:( I hate airlines...

Anyhow, I always need a hop flying out of the US from St. Louis. It's technically an international airport, but it's about as international as that one you have in Narvik. (not very) :( Gone are the days when it made direct flights to Paris...
So yeah, I need one to O'Hare (30 minute flight, not bad), or New York. From there I could conceivably get one to Helsinki... and then I still need to get to Turku.
I'm more concerned about price than stops and times, though... ^^
Sorry about that rant, thanks for the advice. I'll tell you if it looks better in a month when I can pick the real days. :D

Finland-Chicago for me and by boyfriend has always taken some 14 hours with one stop in Europe. The cheapest deals are often through London or Frankfurt (or Amsterdam). At least there's no need for two stops in Europe! Depending on the time of year, it's possible to get tickets for less than 600€. The only direct flight from US to Finland that I know of is indeed operated by Finnair, but if you anyway need to connect to get to that flight in New York, I think you'll find cheaper options than Finnair.
As for Helsinki-Turku, I don't recommend flying, when a train or bus is much cheaper, and the distance is only about two hours by bus. There is a bus connection from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to the city --> railway station, and long-distance buses have convenient airport connections.
