Kira just adores an older girl named Olivia. Olivia will be four in the next few days, but the age difference doesn't matter to Kira. Or maybe it does. Maybe that's what makes Olivia so alluring. Playgroup was fun today. Just a small group with Simone and Nini, plus kids of course. Simone had an easel set up and paints for the kids. I was amazed at her bravery, but it actually went quite well. Her suggestion of bringing an old adult t-shirt as a smock worked quite well. Mark had a departmental banquet dinner tonight and he invited me to come along (!!) (just kidding), so we had a nice night out together. One of the good things that came out of Mark's surprise trip to the hospital was that we found that Kira could deal with us being gone better than I had hoped. Kira had a great day last Saturday. She was active, outgoing and in a good mood all day. Mark spent the morning with her and called it her first "big girl" day. She even had a great nap and woke up in a good mood. An amazing thing all by itself.

I finally was able to fix our basement leak. Good thing too because the water was really coming in fast since it was raining out. (This was actually two days ago.) Hydraulic cement is a good thing. If I hadn't been able to fix it, I would have been setting my alarm for every two hours or so in the night so I could mop out the basement before it ( Read more... )

She can use the mouse to point and click on the computer. I had been led to believe that pointing and clicking was a skill that would take a long while to learn, so I was impressed.

She is also starting to know the location of some of the letter keys. And she understands, somewhat, that she can type her name.

He came home from the hospital on Monday with a diagnosis of periocarditis. The best scenerio of those we were facing - he just needs to take lots of aspirin for a week. Now we are just getting things here back on track.
