Depends entirely on the teacher you get. I was taught British, and I've stuck to that, but most of my class ended up with the American deviance because it's what they see most around them.

oh come on, no way do I sound like that. I have heard Americans who sound British, but they werent New Yorkers ... Boston maybe. And Im sure I now have at least some Aus in my speech - my local UK accent was very like Aus in its flatness, but other UK people can still pick that Im English, even if they dont know what county Im from.
I got Southern. Which, doesn't surprise me. Even though I was born in NY, raised by a family who grew up in NY, I talk like a Southern gal. However, I still talk as fast as a NY, so it's weird. I have a mile-a-minute southern accent that no one can understand.

What's the more popular superdialect to learn in Norway, British or American?

...Get a rope.
(Ok, you may have never seen the commercial. Do a YouTube search for "Pace New York rope". Maybe. Posting from my CrackBerry, so I can't search.)
