Although i dunno what to reply for this since you still dont think there is a God...But i do agree with your dilemas...

Though I dont think knowledge is the ultimate goal of human civilization... After all, you gain knowledge what else do you get? If you do have all the knowledge in the world in your head, then what would you do next? Like you said it does help generate pleasure, but i dont really see the point of connection anymore. The simplicity of seeing the rain pouring down from teh sky is already pleasurable,it always gives me peace of heart, yet requires no
knowledge application.
