Political Anger, MA Senate Race Edition

So I hear that there was a setback for the Democratic party lately. I barely know the big picture, and I really don't care about the details at this point. What happened was, my current standpoint got vindicated again. That standpoint is that I am actively not paying attention to micro-level political maneuvering because the big-picture ( Read more... )

Sigh. This.
I voted for the pawl yesterday, purely as damage control. Ultimately it's not productive to spend more than those ten minutes every two years trying to get the federal government to serve our interests. Better to start building something that doesn't suck, and out-evolve the existing social systems.
I expect that to be work. I totally side with Greer rather than Orlov on that. People make me nervous, even the ones I largely agree with. Dealing with them seems to be a learnable skill, though.

I guess we're reading the same stuff... oh wait, I probably shared that post with you through Google Reader. :> Yeah, Robb both frightens and excites me. He really seems to think we can hack our way out of this. I can barely contain myself waiting for the resilient communities book.

I could care less who wins or loses.

and they still can't, legis-fucking-latively speaking, pour piss out of a boot

Yeah, exactly. The Democrats were theoretically momentarily unstoppable, and they couldn't do shit. Why the hell should a Republican ability to filibuster stop the Democrats from doing shit any worse than the Democrats' innate crappitude?

1) They're gonna have to actually DO SOMETHING rather than just rely on me being scared of Republicans one of these days.

2) I think this is a blessing rather than a curse. This way, if the Democrats wind up being ineffective, people will understand just how crippling dealing with the Republicans is, and the Democrats can still get out of this with some public trust remaining in their lousy, cowardly ethically bankrupt party.

Okay, that's possible.

Someone else pointed out that it took years and years of utter disaster before the media started talking about the Bushies in a remotely negative light, whereas now? Hah. Myth of the liberal media.

Anyhow. Yes. There ain't no percentage in compromising with the Republican caucus.
