Nothing says, "Oh man, our bottom line is hurting" quite like Dell offering upscale laptops at Sam's Club. These are the kind with 2 gigs of RAM and 120 gig hard drives. Though maybe, since I don't look at manufacturer websites that often, I'm behind the times and that's considered decent ware and nothing special.

At any rate, I'm going Mac.

Ubuntu is great for those who love it. But I don't fancy the idea of having to jump into the command line when any damn thing goes wrong.

eh, I don't know anything about the command line--all greek to me. What I love about Ubuntu is that its mission is to be 'linux for people who don't want to use the command line.'

But I was kidding about the whole 'efangelism' thing-- you know what works for you; stick to that :).
