It could potentially be argued that making clothing from a dead animal (which may very well be a dead food animal) isn't on the same level of unnecessary cruelty as making animals fight each other to the death.

Not to mention that people in the US tend to have more sympathy for dogs than they do for cows.

..The sweatshop thing still blows their moral superiority either way, though.

they apologized and now monitor their subcontractor's working conditions.

I will still never buy Nike -- they don't make velcrow, but I think we should clarify the facts here.

In my opinion, that's EXACTLY what the issue is here. Also, people in the US tend to have more sympathy for dogs than they do for most other people. Especially the ones who are (a) people of color (b) from other countries (c) poor (d) children (e) all of the above.

Come ON... how could Nike KEEP their endorsement deal with Michael Vick? This has nothing to do with morality- it's just about good business sense.

I'll concede that point - and in general, argue that companies of Nike's size don't do anything for moral reasons alone.
