Hmm...is honesty the best policy?

Ok, so, I dropped my rent check in the overnight box on the 5th (our late extension ends after the 5th), and it STILL hasn't shown up on my account. No one posted a late or eviction notice on the door (I've even been to the leasing office since rent was due to pick up a package, and nothing said), so the question is, do I do the right thing and go ( Read more... )

i'd ask them about it for sure.
but if your landlord is a management co, and their head office is out of state, they always say to allow 10 days for your check which is in-town for you but out-of-town for them, to clear.
If it was me, i wouldn't risk bouncing the rent check. Getting an eviction will make it a lot harder to get another place.

Ask. My landlords routinely let one to two weeks pass before cashing the rent checks. If you assume that they missed it, then spend the money, you might accidentally bounce a rent check, which is never a good thing.
