None of that is canon in the Marvel universe, anyway.

Well, depending on the writers, Jörmungandr, Fenrir and Hela have been refered to as Loki's children a couple of times, in Walt Simonson's run on Thor for example...

But I agree, the myths are definitely not Marvel comics canon. And even less so, movie canon.

But when fic writers basically points to the myths as a good reason for mpregging Loki, and then make him Jörmungandr, Fenrir and Hela's mother... it just annoys me. Probably because of how out of character Mommy!Loki usually gets written.

In some of the myths he's the mother, in others the father. In one he gave birth to Hel after eating Angrebodre's heart, in others, she's the mother. He gave birth to trolls (created the species) while living as a male human - I'm assuming they were ass trolls? Had a son with Siff (as the father), had twins with Sigyn (as the father), had babies as a mortal woman... I think he can do what he wants with whomever he wants.

In the myths he's not a Frost giant. Odin is half Jotun, Loki is either Odin's brother, son, or a fire demon. Thor's uncle, brother, half brother, or adopted brother. Let's face it, fans can pick and chose what they want.

I like the Loki as the mother of monsters stories - and I'm happy for the intersexed and trans fans that they feel they finally have a character they can canonically call their own, and that's sweet. I'm not insulted by feminised Loki, either, because I don't find being a woman to be an insult. (But yes, a lot of mpreg fic is shit. On the other hand, a lot of fic is shit, period).

I have no problem with a female Loki, done well it's stories I love. The same goes for good stories where Loki is intersexed or trans. But I've found a trend in which writing Loki as the mother of monsters goes together with writing him as weak and passive, like the stereotype 'bottom' in bad slash fic.

And like I said, Loki giving birth to children is not what I have a problem with canonwise. :)
