It seems to me that one can argue that the government has always “spied on us,” and everyone knows about it/knew about it; those “crazy paranoids” are just being proven right. We get spied upon for varying reasons: suspicion of selling drugs, theft, child abuse, anti American intent, etc. The NSA, FBI, IRS, police, and our neighbors all pry into our lives at one point or another. I don’t feel like any liberties have been taken away. I can still write what I want, share with my friends any political ideas I have, listen to the television and watch anti war sentiments, shop where I will, protest whatever I want in a public forum, and so on. Bush listens day after day to people telling him he sucks, but you don’t see him pointing his finger and saying “he/she is a terrorist!” People even wear shirts that say “Bush isn’t my president,” as if they had a choice at this juncture. I can say as often as I want, “America sucks,” and I know nothing will happen to me, but if I walk into a store with a masque on, I expect to get arrested ( ... )
