Okay, reading an 18th century discussion on beauty makes me wanna time travel and beat some men up. Healthy and robust? That's not beautiful! Small, frail, and sickly? So beautiful! I hope they bring back small, frail, and sickly just to spite you. Like 5'2", prone to cases of the vapors, looks like you could snap her in half. That'd shut you up.

But with skinny models and shite, wouldn't you say that the desired type for today is still pretty similar, albeit TALL frail and sickly?

Hey, but those dark ages---that little paunch was DAMN sexy, since it meant you could afford to eat. Skinny women? HELLZA NO, THEY HAVE LEPROSY I BET!

Not really sure if vapors were ever in vogue, but there are always those weird fetish men...

Models aren't really the cultural beauty ideal. I think society now thinks the most beautiful women are thin, but still have an ass and boobs. We just like to hang our clothes on skinny things. 18th century it was really hot to be flat-chested.

We even discussed in my Victorian seminar today that there was this really trendy move towards "Woman as Child," :shudder: Kinda like those god awful baby doll dresses were only a come-back...
