I'm laughing enough I had to share--my three current special categories that Netflix has determined are areas of interest for me (and thus are giving me recs from) are Girl Power Movies Based on Children's Books, Family Features from the 1980s, and Time Travel Movies. lazy_hoor , time to come and visit!

If I did Netflix, no doubt I'd get many of the same recommendations.

How do you feel about Time Bandits? Much to my surprise it was not under time travel, but family friendly from the 80s.

What were the Girl Power Movies? My mind's a blank.

I'm sure there were plenty of family features from the 80s that I liked - does ET count? The films I "enjoyed" with my family (i.e. my mother) were usually made-for-tv films about grim subjects - serial murder (like that one about Ted Bundy), child molestation (made more disturbing by the fact that the molester was Sam from Cheers) and that one where a girl was kidnapped and kept in a coffin. I forget the name again... Tarantino said it was the inspiration for his episode of CSI.

Honestly, I didn't know any of them, so I haven't retained the names and now Netflix is on to suggesting British Dramas with Feisty Female Leads.

Oh! I remember that one! And it wasn't just child molestation, but father-daughter incest! Very, very creepy.
