Sigh. I wish. That's the purely frustrating thing about the whole encounter. When I tried to get closer for a better look to see if it was a military plane or something they're testing or a UFO of the type I'd rather see, that's when it disappeared.

Suppose they don't want to be figured out. Then again, they might have beamed all the odd socks out of peoples dryers and said 'Our work is done here.' by the time you got close enough to look. I'd imagine it's quick disappearance might suggest the unknown.

I'm not sure what to think about it. I keep wavering between the 'it was obviously something the military are testing' and 'that seems a bit strange for a military test' point of view. I'm editing my post right now with the full details of what I saw. Maybe you'll have some better insight than I do at the moment.
