Mantle pictures

Ok, please tell me what you think of the mirror. My mantle is only about 6" wide so if I lowered the mirror I woudn't have much room to put stuff on the mantle itself - but if you think lower would be better I want to hear it so when we re-mount the mirror, or when we get a new mantle i can adjust the mirror. When we do replace the mantle we will

I wouldn't lower the mirror, but I would place something decorative in the center of the mantle to make break up the wall space a bit better.

I wouldn't bother painting the existing mantle white if you're going to change it in th near future anyway...who needs the extra work, kwim?

I agree... if you're just going to replace it, there's no need to paint it.
I like the placement of the mirror though.

The mirror looks great! I think it's placed just right.

I wouldn't paint the mantle white because I think the contrast with the black might be too much. However when you re-do it white sounds like it would tie in with the rest of the house really well.
